Visited Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life with my husband - and let’s just say, I’ve never seen him so excited to look at uniforms and old weapons 😂🎖️🪖 Located right next to Carlisle Castle, this museum is packed with stories of courage, discipline, and the kind of historical drama that makes you say, “Wait, that really happened?!”

The exhibitions take you through over 300 years of military history - from the 18th century to modern missions.

It was fascinating to learn about the local regiment’s role in world events - all brought to life with photos, films, and hands-on displays. Even if you’re not a military buff, it’s impossible not to get drawn in (and let's be honest, those vintage army hats are pretty...

It is a fascinating museum of the British empire and military might and a reminder of how mankind can't live in peace without violence.

This museum is located inside Carlisle Castle. Disabled blue badge parking is available inside the castle if you drive through the main entrance, which is barrier controlled.

The entrance is a wide pull door, and the museum is big enough for a wheelchair or scooter. There is a cafe and gift shop inside.

You can get a joint ticket if you want to explore the...

While the museum is certainly interesting to military history fans, I can't say I was happy with my visit. Member of staff that was checking my tickets, when she heard my accent said something about "language difficulties". Well, I don't think I have any after several years living in the UK. One would think that in such a multicultural country staff would understand people can sound a bit differently, and still...

A small museum about the history of the regiments that were based here at the castle, very interesting exhibits to look at like Boer Wars and the two World Wars. They had a temporary exhibition about the 80th anniversary of the battle of Arnhem, which was nice to look through, and the museum café was lovely also. Plus, entry to the museum was included with our visit to the castle, which was an extra bonus.
