St. Andrew's Square: A Wee Gem in the Heart of Edinburgh

★★★★★

I'm absolutely smitten with St. Andrew's Square! This wee bit of heaven in the heart of Edinburgh is a real treat for the senses. The other day, I was basking in the sunshine, sipping on my irn bru, and listening to my friend sanjar Ali play "fly me to the moon." It was a truly magical moment.

The square is surrounded by beautiful Georgian architecture. There's also a lovely park with benches, flowers, and a fountain, making it the perfect spot to relax and soak up the atmosphere. If you're ever in Edinburgh, I highly recommend taking a stroll through St. Andrew's Square. You won't be...

Reasonable sized little green oasis in the East end of the historic New Town. Handy for a seat, maybe grab a Costa, people watch or just pass through between the George Street bars and shops to Multrees Walk and ST James quarter beyond.

Once the centre of Edinburgh's financial sector, but now given over predominantly to retail outlets. Some of the fine Georgian buildings around its edge remain, whilst the squares dominating feature is the monument to Henry Dundas, 1st...

Aah. My husband and I sat here for a while on a glorious sunny day on July 19th (Monday). We live in Edinburgh but it reminds me of how lucky we are to live in this beautiful city.

People were spread all over the grass, having picnics, soaking up the rays, whatever! We haven't been up that way in a while and I'm glad we chose to visit when we did while I'm on holiday from work!! We couldn't have picked a better day.

If it's sunny, have a stroll along. You won't be...

St. Andrew Square Garden is a small park worth visiting if you’re in the area. It features a tall monument, the Melville Monument Column, which is quite noticeable. The park has plenty of green space, and Paddington Bear is sitting on a bench, so you can take a photo with him. While I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit it, I recommend staying here for a bit and enjoying the green space.
