Popped in to Roxy Edinburgh to play a few games of bowling. Charlotte was asked to come over and sort out our bowling balls because they had gotten stuck on the track and werenāt returning to us properly. As she came over, I noticed she was scowling. She also didnāt say a word and couldnāt be bothered to acknowledge me or my sister, but got them unstuck for us.
I walked over to thank her and she replied: āYou had an extra ball and thatās why they got stuck. Next time, donāt take any balls from the other lanes.ā, before abruptly walking away. Her tone of voice was as rude as her sudden exit.
We hadnāt taken any balls from the other lanes. We had only used the balls that were already there. I can assume that mixing up the bowling balls is something that happens a lot and that must be annoying for the staff. I can understand why she might want to point this out to us. However, the way she treated us was unacceptable. We had one extra ball, but it wasnāt because we had ātaken itā. Charlotte just wanted to accuse us and compare us to thieves!
I get that we all have bad days at work, but Charlotte ruined this experience for us! We noticed her staring at us a few times afterwards and constantly felt like we were being watched and doing something wrong. We were left wondering, why has she got a grudge against us? She made us feel uncomfortable! I had to leave a review because it was very unprofessional. She could have easily explained why the balls got stuck without making accusations but instead chose to make us feel blameworthy. Very disappointing.
Maybe if Charlotte wasnāt assuming the worst of everyone, she would have better customer service skills like her colleagues who were all lovely! We didnāt book in advance, but the front desk didnāt choose to make us feel guilty about it. They went the extra mile to set up our lane with our names and accommodate us. The bar staff were also attentive & friendly.

Not with any expectation of anything other than staff wishing the birthday girl a happy birthday at the very least. She also had a birthday badge on.. Nothing was mentioned. Our room wasn't ready but that is Ok as we waited at the bar. Initially the room looked great. It is large which is very good. We had PLENTY room for our group of 6. However, the lyrics on the screen kept freezing, and were very often out of time with the sound. The tablet you use to select the songs also froze up quite a lot. One of the two microphones in the room stopped working. The first guy that came to fix it was very nice. He couldn't get it working though so he had to bring a replacement microphone. However, the other microphone then stopped working too a while later. At this point we didn't want to lose out on more time trying to get it fixed. There is no indication of time remaining in the room but at the 'end' we were told by a girl that we had 10-15 minutes left and to queue out last songs. Then, at most 5 minutes later (which we know as it was the length of 1 song we had queued) we were abruptly told we had to leave now ... in the middle of a song. He had come in with cleaning supplies and absolutely no patience at all. Stood and watched us as we got our jackets on etc. Instead, why not just let the song finish and then turn the karaoke system off for us to leave.. Won't be back for karaoke specifically. Maybe not at all. Didn't find the staff the most welcoming with the exception of the gentleman who took us to the room and the one who fixed our microphone. Supercube has always been a much...

We tried the karaoke machines and none of the songs had the original vocals, which made it very hard to follow or actually enjoy the songs your were singing with your friends. It wasted our time trying to go through the songs and find any that would be somewhat like the originals. No luck! Donāt recommend this at all! We also tried the air hockey table, which was blowing air on one side but not the other, the hockey pucks were sticky to the point you couldnāt use them, I asked for the staff to help with it and was told that thereās basically nothing they can do, one of them tried cleaning the pucks, appreciated, but by the time they were back the time had ran out and we were told we couldnāt get a refund because it wasnāt operated by them! What the fudge does that mean when the machine is in your establishment! Thereās essentially no mechanisms in place for you to be remunerated if the establishment is not delivering to the standard one would expect or the service you pay for! What a joke!
EDIT: The shuffle board tables were good:) we had fun...
