Italian restaurant amongst a few other high end restaurants.
From the front, the restaurant looks very classy, I walked through the entrance of the restaurant and it was very nice, clean, shiny laminate floors, it was bright and a big open space, with fancy lighting. The seating plan was fancy too, with booths and table/chairs nicely spread out. I thought I was underdressed to eat here !
The server explained my table would only be available for two hours, which was fine as I didn't book, they then walked me around the laminate floor section of the restaurant to the side of it and this is when my high expectations changed..
The floor was now carpeted, the tables were Wetherspoon-esque, cramped and non-classy. They could have done with a bit of sanding too. They were a little bit tatty, cramped with an empty pepper and salt grinder, a little candle and a drinks menu and wine glasses. Not enough room for your drink, main and a side.
Considering I had only two hours on my table, there was over ten other tables unseated, and continued to be unseated for the duration of my meal. Two hours is plenty but I felt like I had to still rush, just incase. Thus I didn't order a starter because I may have gone over my two hour limit.
Waiters were quick to come over and take my order, I had a Mojito, Carbonara ( with guanciale ! Which a lot of restaurants don't do) my friend had a mango sour and the breaded chicken with spaghetti (chips and salad if you don't want spaghetti)
My mojito was very, very strong, it's as if they didn't use the sugar syrup ( so Rum, soda , mint leaves and lime slice ) this is my favourite cocktail and I just couldn't drink it. I had water on the table so I was fine with drinking this instead.
My friends mango sour was ok.. but it was thick, like a smoothie, so possibly whizzed up in the processor with ice?
My carbonara and garlic bread came after about 20/25 minutes after ordering. It was hot, and tasty, but after about 5 minutes then sauce separated and resembed scrambled egg. The guanciale wasn't what I expected, it was chewy, got stuck in my teeth and one piece of it was fatty and oily, I had to subtly put this into a napkin 🙈
My friend's chicken was nice, crispy and juicy, she told me her spaghetti was ok, just basic tomato sauce, nothing fancy.
The garlic bread was good, nice, hot and cheesy.
I think if I did go back, I'd book, I'd ask to sit in the front entrance in a booth and I would order a starter, I would also try a pizza, because the man who was sat next to me (in touching distance if I stretched my arm out) had a very fancy...

The hostess immediately started the experience off poorly when she stated they were closed now as we were being taken to our table. Once we were sat, with no menus provided, a server walked over to ask our order as the kitchen was closing. The time was 10:05pm. We requested menus and ordered 2 glasses of wine. Once the wine was brought to our table we were again asked by our server for our food order as the kitchen was closing. We needed an allergen menu as my wife has a severe allergy to all nuts so thorough review must be made of our order. When we again did not order, at just 10:08pm, the server directed one of the managers out way who again requested our order. We firmly, but respectfully, stated we understood the kitchen was closing and that we were making every attempt to order as soon as possible. My wife was recording herself during this dining experience for fun, not intentionally capturing any staff or other patrons, when one staff member came over and directed her to stop recording. She stopped with no hesitation, and you guessed it, 10:10pm and we were asked again for our order. After this much pressure with only 5 minutes to review a menu and make a selection which also required review of an allergen menu we decided to walk out of the restaurant. We had lost all confidence that the staff or chefs would take care as to not cross contaminate our dishes and did not feel at this time they even wanted to service us. To the management at Amarone, do better. Either do not allow a reservation to be made so late or require your staff to take proper care of all guests. This was truly an awful experience. I encourage hungry visitors to try Bar Napoli for a fantastic experience and meal. We went there following our awful Amarone visit and could not have been more pleased. The staff was considerate, made conversation and walked us through our entire order respectfully. The food was amazing and some of the best risotto I’ve ever had. I thank you Amarone, for being the absolute worst which in turn allowed me to experience how amazing...
Read moreWe visited Amarone on Tuesday night on a recommendation from a friend, I found the service to be good but could have been better, we arrived to our booking a little early but the lovely waitress managed to sit us down straight away, the restaurant was very busy and they were coping well, the waiter took our drinks order and it was cocktails for us, I went for a strawberry Daiquiri and I can’t remember what mum had but I want to say it had grapefruit in it (not helpful I know) they were lovely, we then ordered starters I had the black pudding croquette which was outstanding and I would definitely have it again I followed it with a ham & mushroom pizza. The mushrooms were woodland mushrooms and were more earthy than I’m used to and the texture of them was more wet than I like the pizza was mediocre in comparison to the starter.
My mum had the goats cheese & walnut focaccia which was lovely followed by a risotto type thing which had a lovely flavour. When I say it was a risotto type thing imagine a large arranchini but flat on top of the other bits you would put in a risotto. The waiter we had throughout our meal was lovely we also had a glass of Prosecco each. Our meal came out promptly and in total was just under £100 so it was pricey and my pizza was not worth £15 I only ate half of it. The end of our meal came and a different waiter came and cleared our plates, he asked if we would like desserts and we said no, but this is when he fell foul and where the loss of a star comes in for service. He then assumed we wanted the bill and dumped it on our table like right your done off you go. No chance really to let our meal settle and maybe have a coffee Infact we weren’t even asked if we wanted a coffee, which mum probably would have had she been given the opportunity. We did find that a little rude. The decor and the restaurant itself is beautiful and would...
