Superb heritage museum, FY1 6EA. Blackpool trams are legendary, we were made to feel very welcome, I had the privilege to sit inside lovingly restored Bolton 66 tram, it was magical and beautiful. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, there are a number of heritage trams to view along with the machinery that helps to look after them, the café area with souvenir shop is very welcome, public toilets too, we had a wonderful couple of hours, thank you. Huge well done to Paul Galley and his team (volunteers) fantastic progress to get this new attraction open to the public this year. Hopefully funding can be received to repair the roof of the adjacent building/tram shed and engineering works so we can appreciate the rest of the heritage trams patiently waiting for their turn to be restored again! These trams are currently viewable from outside the safety barriers, very nostalgic. Let's get the heritage trams back out in the lines in all their glory🙏🏼 no need to book a visit, just turn up, currently open Saturday, Monday and Wednesday's 10-2pm highly...
Read moreThis is an absolutely fascinating "must visit" for anyone interested not only in old, heritage trams but also for those interested in local history, heritage, engineering, etc. This is a working site where old "first generation" trams are maintained or are being actively restored and (in some cases) totally rebuilt. As such, for H.& S. reasons, parties are escorted in small groups by friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable volunteer staff. The tour takes about 90 minutes and includes visits to the interiors of some fascinating vehicles. The group desperately needs further funding which is easier to secure if it can prove adequate interest in its work. So, please visit! It's so much more than a...
Read moreIf you like trams and museums, this is an excellent way to while away a morning or afternoon. The volunteers are so friendly and hugely knowledgeable. It was so good to see all the old trams and workshops. The trams were so ornate, bought back lots of childhood memories, and the illuminations in the workshop were an added bonus. A trip to the loo was equally cool, I can’t remember when I last pulled a chain 😀Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and chatting over coffee with the volunteers. We will be back for another visit next year to see...
