We went here as we were passing Blackpool on our way home to Scotland. We bought tickets which included the VR experience.
Once we arrived at the VR area, I could see several staff inside the sectioned off area, and what looked like a queue of customers. I joined said queue and waited… and waited… and waited.
I watched the staff, which I came to the conclusion that one of the machines weren’t working, but the rest were occupied.
It then became apparent that the 6!! Staff members weren’t actually doing anything to resolve the situation, but instead having a little chit-chat.
This became more apparent as I got frustrated and moved nearer them to listen to what was being said.
I then approached the person that appeared to be working the “gate”, if you like. Who frankly, was as good as a chocolate fire guard. They had no explanation, and attempted to get another member of staff to come speak to me, but the person she was asking, no more than 5 steps from us, even attempt to approach me.
This blew my frustrations and I stormed away, right through all the other exhibits, eventually arriving at the gift shop, because the place is a maze with very little direction.
Once at the gift shop, I quite rightly told, not asked for a refund and explained why…
I was told I cannot get a refund as I had went all the way through the attraction?? I then demanded that CCTV be checked to prove that I did not engage with the attraction from the VR section on-wards.
The lady in the gift shop went to call a manager, who lo and behold, turned out to be the lady at the VR who wouldn’t approach me.
Said manager then tried to tell me that they were dealing with the broken VR, which I’m sorry, but no you weren’t. I stood for around 10-15mins watching & listening and not one person in the group done anything to resolve the VR and I told the manager this, who denied it. I then told her to rewatch her CCTV, if her memory was that poor.
All in, very embarrassing. After waiting many years to visit Madame Tussaud’s, it left a very bad taste and very unlikely I would visit another Madame Tussaud’s location, or recommend anyone to pay money for the experience.
This visit was from April 2024, and I do have a photo of the initial “breakdown” of the machine where staff can be seen with their backs to customers waiting, not engaging with...
Read moreWe checked out Madame Tussauds in London and it didn't quite hit the spot for us.
However, our recent visit to its counterpart in Blackpool was a total game-changer!
We headed there as a group of five during a quiet spell, and boy, did we have a blast.
Here are some top tips to make your visit just as epic:
✅ Snag your tickets online in advance as part of a multi-attraction deal; it's a serious money-saver. 💡Don't stress about pre-booking your visit slot; you can easily switch it up later.
✅♿ The Access Card scheme here is top-notch for accessibility. 💡Book online to make the most of it.
✅♿ Need to avoid the stairs? No problem! There's a lift ready and waiting for you.
✅♿ The attraction has some great rest spots strategically placed around. Our favorite? A cozy café designed to look like the Rovers Return bar, complete with characters from the show!
✅ The space is roomy, the layout is spot on, and it's all about interactive fun.
✅ There's something for everyone — from Royalty and A-list celebs to Marvel, sports, music and more.
✅ Best part? It's not packed, so no endless lines and plenty of time for those Insta-worthy snaps.
✅ We loved how hands-on everything was. Picture this: 💡Jamming out on a replica of The Beatles' drum kit. 💡Testing out the VR Rollercoaster if you're feeling adventurous. 💡Pose for epic 3D snaps with Spiderman and Ironman 💡Tackle some "I'm a Celebrity" challenges.
✅ The new Marvel exhibit was a hit with my son, featuring Ironman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman, Groot, and more.
✅ Plan for a full afternoon; trust me, you'll want to soak it all in.
✅ It's totally family-friendly, with every exhibit accessible and no boring off-limits areas.
This is now on my top things to do in...
Read moreI recently visited with my partner, our 12-year-old son, and our 12-week-old baby. Overall, it was a great way to spend a few hours, especially on a rainy day. I’d recommend visiting during quieter times. As we went midweek, it made a big difference. I can imagine it feeling quite crowded otherwise. While pushchairs aren’t normally permitted, we were allowed to use ours due to how quiet it was, which made navigating the space and taking family photos much easier. There are some stairs inside, but a lift is available. The lift attendant was particularly friendly and helpful, even putting my partner at ease when she felt a bit anxious about using it. I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of celebrity culture, so I wasn’t expecting much — but I was genuinely surprised at how entertaining it was. The experience sparked quite a few laughs and gave us some brilliant moments together as a family. One slight frustration was around ticketing. We had planned to use Tesco Clubcard vouchers, but because my partner wanted to include the Rovers Return drink experience, we had to buy a more expensive ticket. This meant the vouchers weren’t valid, and unfortunately, I couldn’t get them refunded. To add to that, once inside, we realised you could actually enter the Rovers Return and buy a drink without the upgraded ticket — a detail that wasn’t made clear at the time of booking. Lastly, the photo packages at the end felt overpriced — £20 for a "saver" bundle didn’t feel particularly value-driven for just a handful of pictures. That said, I’d still recommend a visit, particularly during off-peak times. We easily spent two to three hours inside, and it turned out to be a fun and memorable family...
