We got charged £11.50 for four hours parking. Having obtained a parking token using the second floor we went shopping in the lift to the top floor, because of a medical problem I was using a walking stick and wished to take the shortest route. When we returned to the car no payment instructions were shown all we had was a yellow token given on arrival. We reached the exit expecting to place this token into a machine but no, an obnoxious little man pointed out that parking instructions ate given on the odd numbered floors suggesting we should have read them. I pointed out my handicap, he went into his office with the token came out and demanded £11.50, we had little choice other than to pay. Why the management of this car park cannot properly advise everyone of the parking system in use on all floors is a mystery to me, this truly spoiled what had been a smashing visit to Durham, be warned of this rip off. Incidentally no receipt wad given for the...

Always a pleasure to visit Co Durham's main city shopping centre, to experience shopping made easy, especially via park-and-ride facilities. . These convenient out of town car parks, with regular buses to transport you into the city centre, are a boon to city visitors. Drivers.. husbands and partners.. .. don't dispair when you are persuaded to go shopping. Durham City is the place with easy park arrangements in force. If you have to take the car with you, the multi - story car park

is another option to park and ride. A large number of popular retail units to visit, with the city centre hosting outdoor entertainment, cafes, restaurants, etc, compliment your visit to Durham City. There's even a boat ride on the river the kids will love. Good...

Visiting our home town from Australia, i always tell people there about the atmosphere in Durham at Xmas. Everything you need in the shops, ample parking in car park, just need to be patient at this time of year. So sad to see so many stores going under though, like BHS😔 and empty spaces. I hope the new development plan does not take anything away from the heritage and culture here in Durham. The same has happened in Brisbane after Covid with rental issues and businesses failing. The ones that have survived had strategies in place and moved with the times. Durham is the most beautiful City in the world, please dont sell Its soul 🌎

Beautiful Durham. ❤️ Great views along the river with cruises, river walks, boat hire. Historic Durham Cathedral, Durham Castle. The city has plenty great shops, bars, cafes, restaurants. Student vibe/Durham University. Traditional cobblestone streets and so much history. Such a wonderful place to visit. Friendly people.

Durham has something for everyone, nice selection of shops, plenty cafés, restaurants and bars, nice indoor Market and lovely Riverside walks, not forgetting the Cathedral which takes pride of place. Parking available in town or use the park and ride, well worth a visit.
