We got charged £11.50 for four hours parking. Having obtained a parking token using the second floor we went shopping in the lift to the top floor, because of a medical problem I was using a walking stick and wished to take the shortest route. When we returned to the car no payment instructions were shown all we had was a yellow token given on arrival. We reached the exit expecting to place this token into a machine but no, an obnoxious little man pointed out that parking instructions ate given on the odd numbered floors suggesting we should have read them. I pointed out my handicap, he went into his office with the token came out and demanded £11.50, we had little choice other than to pay. Why the management of this car park cannot properly advise everyone of the parking system in use on all floors is a mystery to me, this truly spoiled what had been a smashing visit to Durham, be warned of this rip off.
