Citation Weddings & Events — Attraction in Great Britain

Based on research and the previous reviews I and my family attended this restaurant a few months ago and it was brilliant we thus went back and again it was great however the last time we went (July 2014) it was terrible!!!

Perhaps the place is under new management or the chef was on holiday or just because it was a Monday night however they could not cook a steak!

Despite ordering rare the offered steak was over well done TWICE I did not take a third attempt, insult was added to injury when the manager offered the excuse "the steaks delivered this week are thinner than usual"

On reflection my parents later admitted their mains were also overcooked and although the aforementioned steak was not billed and one starter was taken off the bill this was never about the money

It was just unfortunate that this spoiled a graduation dinner but such is life

Finally I must give credit where credit is due, the young Australian waitress was excellent and tried her best to make our evening better despite all the above.

If you are unfamiliar with Glasgow I would recommend Arisaig Bar & Restaurant instead (this was recommended by a university staff member the following day having heard my story in much more detail). We went for lunch and it was great so much so my folks went again that evening after I left for new shores..

Hopefully it was just a one off but I'll never be back...

We absolutely loved holding our wedding reception at Citation...we just have one specific suggestion for others planning their event.

Citation is a stunning venue, inside and out. But what truly set our experience above and beyond, were the employees and their careful attention to detail. Pauline was fabulous to work with, and each person there the night of our reception took time to make guests feel welcome.

We did upgrade our package, at the suggestion of Citation's staff, to one bottle of wine per person at dinner (or the equivalent of beer). We were certain we wouldn't need that much, and we were guaranteed that whatever we didn't use would count towards our bar tab. As it turns out, Citation does not keep track of the amount of wine/beer consumed at dinner. We were told it probably amounted to what we paid for, so we did not receive any kind of bar credit. However, we are nearly positive we did not go through 112 bottles of wine at dinner (or the equivalent of beers.). We know several guests weren't drinking at all.

We would still recommend anyone book Citation for their event! However, do not upgrade your alcohol package...or if you do, ask that they keep track of the amount your guests consume.

Terrible ..possibly the worst service I have ever come across. There was a mix up with the tables when we arrived so had to wait, suppose this does happen, however when we were seated we were handed menus. Atmosphere around us was pretty good but waited for 15 mins and still nobody even took a drinks order ...i asked a waitress if we could order a bottle of wine for 2 and a bottle of water...this did not arrive after another 10 mins a very bubbly waitress took our food order ..we then asked her about our drinks and she got them right away. The food was out quick ..soup was extremely salty and macaroni cheese was ok not really raving about the food it was edible. We were then asked after 1hour for the table back in 15 mins....we hadn't even had desert menus, our waitress brought menus and said it was fine. After this it was as if the table was being removed from under us first 2 chairs were taken and we asked for the bill as soon as we paid we were asked to leave our table. Disgraceful we were only seated for 1 hr and 20 mins. I will not be back and cannot even think of 1 reason I would recommend eating here. I gave 1 star generously because of the...
