Ordered a vegan burger...the lighting in the bar was poor so couldn't see what was written...when it arrived it was tiny and had no accompanying fries ( which most places do ) complained to the lovely waitress and said it was unnaceptable and i'd like a refund please...no problems from her...but the barman ( who says he wasn't the manager or owner ) who came over to refund the ÂŁ13.00 back to my card seemed to be under the impression I required a step by step account of why they charged this amount ( it was bought in and due to it being plant based!!! ) I explained that I eat out alot...I've been plant based for 35 years...never had such a small portion for such a large amount...he could have just refunded my money without giving me his opinion...I might not have written this review...hope my money's back in my account or I'll ve back in...should point out that this is not the chef's who cooked it or waitress who served it's fault...the fault lies with whoever thought it's ok to charge ÂŁ13.00 for a non meat burger with nothing else...and with the barman for his negative attitude...went to Mono's had a huge plant based burger with lots of pickles and a huge side of homemade...

The Amsterdam was a cool looking pub/restaurant that caught our attention as our family wandered the streets of Edinburgh from the Cathedral to George square and the Modern Art Museum. The food was standard pub fare, but quite good and satisfying. Disappointingly, I was driving and didn't feel comfortable ordering alcohol, but this looked like a great place to do so. The hostess who met us at the door was very helpful and let us check the menu to be sure they they would have suitable vegan options for my daughter, which they did (the "No Clucks Given" faux chicken sandwich). She was also our very efficient waitress. The picture of my "Cluck in Smoke" smokey chicken and cheese sandwich only shows one onion rings on top because I ate the other one (there were 2) as soon as the waitress set it in front of me. My son had chicken strips, which I think they called boneless chicken wings. My wife had 3 tacos. You could mix and match fillings. They were good, she said, but the size of street tacos. Very nice place. I suspect that they are busy in the evenings, but they we wide...

Reserved for 2 for dinner, ordered a bottle of Sauvignon blanc to find a fly in the bottle.... waitress was apologetic and replaced the wine. Our food, once finished, also sat on our table for most of our visit, which again can be understandable on a Saturday evening. This would have been a 5 star review regardless, due to the food quality and service from our waitress.

It became a 3 star due to another member of the team in a hat, red t shirt and shorts. Went out for a cigarette and was told ‘this table is reserved in 15 minutes so you’ll be getting papped aff’ and then we ordered a drink thirty minutes before our table reservation was up, and the same guy said ‘eh this table is reserved in thirty minutes’. Don’t know about you but I’m confident I can knock a drink back in thirty minutes. All in all, would have been a 5 star review had we not been in contact with this member of staff... I appreciate the want to turn tables, but do not enjoy being rushed.

Left to feel like a nuisance by him, so I won’t be...

We stopped here for a few drinks. It was a VERY RARE day and it was hot and sunny in Glasgow. We managed to share a bench outside with a group. We went inside to get drinks to begin with and then as they night went on was told its table service. Apart from one lady who made the effort to serve us staff were either super busy or just ignoring us. I had to get up 5 times to grab someone to get drinks. Kind of ruined our night as the group next to us managed to get the staff to help. Drinks were reasonable in price and was a lively location. Wouldn’t return if it’s only table service

Really enjoyed the cheeseburger (I got extra cheese which slapped), the seasoned fries were a bit much / heavy on the seasoning - in hindsight I should have got normal salted fries. Didn't really enjoy the brisket tacos, they tasted a wee bit soapy. Good drinks selection and loads of outdoor seating on a sunny day / Dam atmosphere inside which would be good on a rainy day. Thought the service was good and pretty good value for money - was around ÂŁ38 for a burger, share of sides / wine and a couple of nice cocktails.
