I found the food to be expensive for what it was, burger, chips and a drink for £20. I'm not saying it wasn't nice because it was. However, it was no where near worth the money. The portion of chips was similar to a childs happy meal from mcdonalds. The service was beige, not a smile, just a curt hello and a thank you. No genuine service, very robotic. This was at 3.45pm today with most tables free so hardly busy. I also found the whole experience very beggy, tip machine on the bar, tip auto set at 10% on the card machine at the bar, tip box when ordering on the app. If I want to leave a tip it will be for the service I have received, I do not need the constant reminder to leave a tip for a bland service that I do not think warrants a tip. Pouring the drink that I ordered and delivering the food to the the table is in the job description. Unless there is something else offered or unless the staff go the extra mile to provide a service that is outside of the job description, then I do not see the reason to tip. The atmosphere was OK but ruined when a member of staff approached out table, put a piece of card on there and told us to be off the table by 6. This wasn't done in any nice kind of way. We were told to move by then and that was it. Apparently the table was reserved from 6 but we had been sat there from 3-5 ordering food and drinks. I get it's reserved, but at least have the note on the table before we arrive, do not just approach and expect us to be happy to get up and move, even though we had already been there for 2 hours. Finally to finish I will say that the drinks were very nice, all 4 of us agreed although I feel a bit overpriced. £6 a pint of average cider is way more than most places in the city. There are plenty other places in the city providing better service, better food and better drinks all for a much less premium price. I cannot see myself returning to this pub again as there are much better options which are...
Read moreArrived at 4.45 with a friend and the bar was busy with football fans (big European game on in the city). Queue of 5 people waiting to get served with 1 person serving, waiting 20 mins to get served. I asked about the free beer offer I'd been sent by email. I was told it ran out because all the football fans had drank the £3000 per day allocation when they'd came in at 11.00? I then told the barman that it wasn't suppose to start till 4.00? He then changed his story to ah yes it started Monday at 4.00 because the deal was different in Scotland to the rest of the country so the allocation had ran out. There was a man behind me who also had the email and was looking for a free beer as advertised. I brought out my phone and read it out to the barman explaining that the £3000 was each day and started at 4.00pm each day. He didn't seem to know what had been advertised or had been told differently. I then asked him how it was been monitored and how they know they'd reached the allocation. He said it was just rung up on the till. This all took 5 to 10 mins and eventually he reneged and offered my friend and I a free lost lager. We then had a table for 6 people booked at 5.45 for wings Wednesday. Again there didn't seem to be enough staff on to cope with the number of people there as the service was slow. After ordering our first load of wings, it took nearly 30 minutes for them to arrive. Food was good and by about 7.00 the staff seemed to have caught up. I suggest if you're going to run multiple offers, make sure you have enough staff to cope with the bookings as you already know how many people are coming. Second, if you're going to run a free pint for customers that come all the time, don't give the beer away to football fans from another country that know nothing about the marketing promotions...
Read moreNever got to try the food, the service was too awful to even stay.....We arrived at 2.45pm on a somewhat busy Saturday, however I would point out there were a fair few empty tables and 5 empty booths. We were advised the booths were booked, no biggie...only to then be shown to a horrendously situated table with an empty booths behind us. We then waited for someone to come and serve us. In that time another table who had been sat a minute behind us, got up and moved to the booth, staying 'guys this is empty' (no reservation signs on the table. We pointed out to the staff member when they came that someone had sat at a booth we were told was unavailable despite not booking it. Staff were completely non plussed. My friend did say they were unsure if they wanted to order and I asked the server to give us a minute....28 mins later they came and asked if we were ready to order. I pointed out how long we had waited....the response 🤯🤯🤯 'we didn't know if you were going to leave!'...really!! I reminded him I asked for a minute...and we were still sitting waiting. I'd like to point out, the booths we requested were still empty. At that point we got up and left, simply stating 'wow!'. The staff member walked away quicker than us and nothing else was said. All I will add is, Edinburgh is a far superior location. Shame on you Brewdog. Not the standard I expected after many previous visits.... equally felt bad because I chose the location after telling my friend that Brewdog was a fantastic lunch option (based on Edinburgh experiences). Reading previous comments of poor service, I would have to agree. Given the sheer number of other eating venues I'm the area....I'd be having a rethink as management with regards to the experience I...
