We love finding good pizza, places wherever we go, and this is among the best. We’ve been to Italy, and this is true actual Italian style pizza. Their ovens run about 800°F and the pizzas cook in about a minute or so. They are loaded down with a million toppings, but in the Italian fashion, run true to form with one or two simple toppings.
We showed up on a Tuesday night with no reservations, and though the place was hopping, we were seated immediately. We love that our table was near the cooking area so we could watch the action.
The service staff is super friendly and engaging. They take the time to explain the menu for those who don’t know about such things. And everyone around us seem to be having a great time, Both staff and customers. In true Italian bistro fashion, we even made some quick friends at a nearby table, exchanging stories, and taking pictures together. Perfection!
We ordered from their daily special which isn’t on the menu, honestly, I don’t remember which sausage it was, they had, and what cheese, but it was delicious! You can tell that because we dug in before I remembered to take a picture lol. As you can see in the photos, the menu isn’t huge nor should it be, with super quality ingredients you don’t need 1000 choices. They did make a point to say that you could put any topping on any pizza and they would still make it for you if you wished. They were hand making cannoli so we had to order one to finish things off. It was wonderful!
The prices were reasonable, and we never felt rushed to finish or clear our table. All in all, a super great experience and wonderful food. We highly recommend having...
Read moreI'm not a huge fan of pizza, though I like the thin-crust versions some restaurants have been serving in Canada for a few decades now. I often find traditional American style pizza greasy, heavy and way too doughy. But thanks to a recommendation by our walking tour guide, we tried this place, as we liked the look of the venue and realized from the crowds that it must be good. It is probably the best pizza I've ever had. Their menu mentions some of the special cooking techniques and dough they use, along with the fire ovens, and the pizza I had (ham, mushrooms, basil) was superb. So light and even the crust delicate and airy rather than heavy. I had no problem eating my entire pizza without feeling stuffed thanks to the delicate, non-greasy texture. It is a noisy, bustling place, so not somewhere for a romantic meal. And service, while friendly, is a bit rushed, with different servers serving us when we waved them down to order dessert, for example. But we also liked the canolo dessert, with a very light and non sugary filling. I can see why this warm and aromatic place, with the fire ovens you can see in the kitchen, would be an especially appealing place on a rainy Glasgow night. We liked it so much we went back for a second meal in our five days in Glasgow, which we normally don't like to do when we're in a new city. We like to try different places. But this pizza is definitely amazing. And even though we were told there might be a 10 minute wait for a table when we entered, it was...
