Without a doubt, the best accommodation experience I've had as a student/ grad student.
Before booking, I was walked through the entire process, layout of the flats and general admin by wonderful staff at the Liverpool Office who where always easy to contact, friendly and professional - they went above and beyond in all the little things which made me more confident in my choice of accommodation.
Move in is straight forward enough, staff are always on hand to help. The accommodation itself is fresh, clean and modern. The rooms are spacious, and the studios provide everything you need. A studio "Plus" provides a little more comfort - all floor plans were sent to me prior to move in so I could make the best choice.
The staff at Havannah House are wonderful. Always a pleasure to chat to, catch up with and ask for any sort of service with the flat be it maintenance, post or rent. The kind of flat where everyone knew each other by name, or the running laugh of room number.
Security run the night staffing of the building. Two guards who you'll get to know and will be happy to help you out if you've locked yourself out of your room (again. and again. and againnn).
All bills included, the water is always hot, the wifi is usually fast and the electricity is well. electricity.
Location is fantastic. A 1 minute walk from a local Spar, a 5 minute walk from a local Sainsburys or Aldi, same distance to Strathclyde Uni, about 20 minutes to the town centre, and about 30 minutes (by subway - Buchanan Street or train from High Street) from the west end. Loads of small shops in between for groceries or a bite to eat.
I had to exit my contract a little early due to Covid logistics, but everything was sorted by Catherine and her team in pretty much no time. No fuss what so ever.
Cons would be: Fire Alarms. Notorious for any student accommodation, but these quickly tail off. They're also dealt with rapidly. The lifts: One will often be out of service, but the building is served by a total of 4 so there's never any real issue. The toilet flush, sometimes becomes stuck. In fairness, it only happened three times over a two year period. These in the scheme of things are negligible and wouldn't change my choice of flat even if I knew. A quick email saw any maintenance issues resolved within the day, at latest the next working day. These cons also pale in comparison to the nightmare you might face (that I have faced many times over) with other flats or landlords.
The perfect combination of fantastic staff, fantastic facilities and a fair rent. I would recommend this to anyone. I will genuinely miss living here, and I'm sad to go.

Read morePlace is the best as it's accessible for both uni life and you can access Glasgow city centre easily. Rooms, shared kitchen, and common areas are all spotless and well-maintained. The location is excellent, with High Street station just 5 minutes away, and Queen Street, Buchanan Bus Station, and subways within 10–15 minutes. ALDI, Morrisons, and All in One (Indian plus East Asian groceries) are nearby too.
Staff-wise, Rob at reception is polite and professional, Michael from maintenance is prompt and helpful, and Hamza (security) is nice and kind, though a bit over-friendly. However, one senior staff member — a grumpy lady at reception — is consistently rude to residents, which is disappointing given we are mature students, not schoolchildren.
It’s also a safe, secure, and LGBTQ+ inclusive environment — which really matters — and overall, it feels worth the cost considering the facilities, location, and cleanliness.
Only major drawback: prolonged and intense noise pollution that started in March 2025 due to repair work and has continued into August with landscaping. The noise—often from 9 AM to 5 PM—made it incredibly difficult to study, concentrate, or even relax during the day, especially around spring and summer exams. From mid-July, common areas like the lounge and TV room have also been closed due to this ongoing work. With a mandatory year-long contract, this disruption has felt unfair and poorly timed. Would’ve been 5...
Read moreCompletely overpriced compared to other options such as Maclay, the location is fairly far away from the University of Glasgow (it seems they switched from Strathclyde, for some idiotic reason) , this requires you to travel in and out every day on transport. The kitchen is somewhat cheaply fitted but has two ovens and stoves and decent space. Fridge and freezer space is inadequate for the number of people (2 small fridges for 6). Staff are generally not helpful or very friendly. Packages are accepted, laundry is more expensive than other locations for the same provider for some reason. There is a small gym which is okay but doesn't have the best equipment. Study room is nice but next to a fire door which is always used as the exit and is extremely loud, it is also extremely difficult to change the lightning in that room. There is a cinema room, table tennis, foosball and social area. Overall not worth the money, if you can definetly look into University owned accommodation. Otherwise, if you have no option, this will do.
In addition to the previous comments, there are also numerous genuine fire alarms that go off each month. A fire truck arrives for these, the accommodation also fails to email or attempt to train the population in basic fire training, which is clearly required. This gives a feeling that the accommodation is unsafe and otherwise is...
