I was so close, so close! To giving this place 5 stars and I'll explain why I deducted one star. Would recommend booking a head as this place is rather small and can get packed out during busy hours, so if you want to avoid waiting 30+ minutes then call and reserve a spot! We ordered the Tori Karaage, Una-Ju, Aburi Wagyu Nigiri (x2), Sal Ikura Don, Tokujo Chirashi, Salmon Spicy Mayo, coke (x2) and Yuzu Ramune. Total £107.50. Soooo yeah, this by no means is a cheap place to eat. But damn, the food is amazing. Honestly. I would go as far as to say to save up and treat yourself here if you possibly can as the food is very good. With that being said. I was a little disappointing by the chef making the sushi and food as at one point during survive, they whipped out their mobile phone and was on it for a few minutes before continuing their service. They did wash their hands after but that kind of ruined the atmosphere for me slightly. There was also a long wait before we got the cheque before we could pay to leave. I know this seems picky but it was almost the most perfect service with food apart from that. I have been here before and will come again in the future no doubt... After I save up a little money ;)

Without over exaggerating, this really was the worst sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to in London. Not only was it overpriced, but the fish quality was also awful! The texture of the fish tasted as though they had been frozen and the flavour was metallic and fishy in a bad way. I can’t believe they are the sashimi supplier for many London restaurants… To make the matter worse, we were sat by the front door which seem to have been broken for a while and it doesn’t shut itself. Whenever someone walked in we had to get up and shut the door ourselves as it was freezing out. The staff did not help or pay attention to the door at all.

I visited this restaurant a few weeks back a great time. I’d been to the Atariya in Kingston before, so I was dead keen to check this one out. It’s got a proper restaurant inside. The chefs were super friendly, which made the whole thing even better. The place was authentic Japanese, just like the other Atariya spots. We ordered seven pieces of nigiri sushi and some pork katsu with rice on the side. Every bite was packed with flavour and just spot-on. It was very fresh and well made. I’m already looking forward to going back

We're regulars at our local Atari-ya and the food is always excellent. Unfortunately having just returned from there tonight the thing that's prompted me to write a review is the disappointment I felt tonight.

The food was excellent as always, although recently (the past couple of months) it has been going ever so slightly downhill - they've been out of more and more menu items more frequently, and the rolled of sushi has been just a bit sloppy, extras like tobiko on an inside-out roll forgotten but left on the bill on occasion - but in the past it's been easily forgivable.

However, tonight I left with a bad taste in my mouth, despite the still good food. The service was particularly slow tonight, though they're always busy. It was during a lull in the rush when we (as usual) asked for a second look at the menu that things really went downhill - we bought a large carafe of sake to enjoy with the food, but after several attempts to wave down a waitress (despite there now being more empty tables and less of a rush with every passing minute), we ended up waiting over an hour for 2 rolls and had finished our sake by the time is arrived. I politely mentioned to a waitress that we'd waited such a long time, and were really hoping to enjoy the sake with the food, and asked if perhaps they could offer a complimentary small carafe or even glass (they're shot sized thimbles). She passed the message to the manageress who instead of offering a complimentary bottle, carafe, or even individual glass - we saw clearly looking over from a distance and deliberately waiting for us to eat the food in impatience anyway...which after over an hour we did. Then she came over, and simply explained they'd been very busy, didn't offer a real apology but paid passing lip service to one, and offered no indication of valuing us as regular customers at all. I didn't bother arguing but had clearly seen several people seated next to us after we'd placed our second order, who'd been served first, and had even paid the bill and left. I firmly believe we were treated this way because she'd started taking us for granted as regular customers, and simply won't bother going back if they...

I would give the food 4 stars but the service 2-3. Not so much about the taking of orders and bringing of food but due to the way we were treated as the restaurant was closing. When we made a booking for 9:30pm we weren’t told that we would need to leave by 10:15pm. The waiter happily took our order, brought us our food and as we were still finishing our meal having not even reached coffee or dessert a bill was placed on our table. We ignored it. After all we were still eating. 3 minutes later the manager came over insisting we pay. We did. We still had our wine to finish and weren’t asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. There were other clients still around us. Chairs started to be put on tables around us. This was 10:15 please note having been given less that 45 minutes to eat and not being told that was the case. As my friend and I were still finishing our wine, we were told the restaurant was closing and asked to leave. We pointed out that we still had to finish our wine and this was not the way to treat paying customers. The reply was a shrug of the shoulders by the manager and that the restaurant must close at 10:30pm. To cut a long story short we were made to leave having not even been allowed to finish. I would advise people to choose other sushi restaurants. There is plenty of choice around and a restaurant displaying this behaviour should not be...

I used to come here weekly for many years. Either for sit-down or take-away. Casual and great quality. Most of all though this place used to have amazing value for money.

Suddenly a few months ago the prices for everything skyrocketed. Where 6 pieces of tuna makki used to be £2.60 for take away they are now £6.90 (+165%!), Yellow-tail maki was £3.20 (now £6.50, +100%!). Same amount, same quality. If you know how to search for them one can still find the old menus/ prices online. A lot of other prices increased less rapidly but still massive price increase across the board.

Our takeaway is now double the price what it used to be and sadly its just not worth it. For that kind of money one can visit a fancy Zone 1 Sushi Place. I also do not care for special offers at specific times as it is just not convenient to plan ahead when you fancy some sushi. It was just easy to preorder here for pick up on your way home from work.

I completely get that every here and then prices need to be adjusted, but inflation definitely did not surge in any way remotely as to demonstrated here! I know a lot of customers feel the same way (just read through the reviews here or on tripadvisor) and that you most likely lost a lot of regular clients. That's a shame because this place was a real star for a casual dinner in the neighbourhood.

My only advise. FIX...
