Em’s Kitchen — Restaurant in London

Em’s Kitchen isn’t just your typical coffee shop or cafe. It’s a warm, cheerful, homely hub for people to feel welcome, eat good food and drink amazing coffee! My partner and I have been coming to Em’s ever since we discovered it on a whim one day around 2 years ago and we absolutely love it! Every visit is met with a friendly welcome and a quick chit chat, which makes you feel like you’re talking to one of your friends or family. The food and coffee is always consistent of good quality and they always have plenty of oat milk and vanilla syrup on deck! (Their coffee is genuinely some of the best we’ve ever had) Some days, it’s so busy you can’t get a table, which is just a reflection of how great it is and even so, we’re still always met with the option to take away, regardless of how busy they are. Due to our schedules, we sometimes get there quite late in their working day and we’re always catered for - nothing is too much fuss. They always have a great playlist on in the background and the staff are always happy and groovin’ - A real feel good place! We always look forward to go to Em’s and it really is our go-to choice, even if it is a little further out for us. I have been going to Ems on and off for 9 years & have always loved the food, the rating above is not about the food. The food has always been delicious and the owner always bubbly and chatty. The disappointment comes in that my partner & I have now ordered delivery services from Ems around 4 times, we spend alot of money each time. We ordered one day an order for £33.40, not cheap.. and waited over 2 hours for the food, we live in Beckenham??needless to say rather than arriving for mid morning breakfast it arrived for lunch!! It was all cold and we were due to go out too! My partner rang and spoke to the owner, really nicely and kindly, she kept referring him back to Uber eats, Uber Eats passed the buck back to Ems Kitchen.. in the end my partner very frustratedly rang back several times speaking to manager who sarcastically said "we must stop talking like this, we're becoming good friends" clearly passing the buck basically.. he was very annoyed as noone ever called us to resolve it and we never got our £33 back!?

We have now changed our cafe to Rendez vous down the road whose food is equally as nice and...

Cheap and microwaved food.... Second and very last time we will go there!!!

The reply from the owner was: 'Thank you for your negative feedback. We are an established family business that has been going for over 13 years. I struggle to understand why you never mentioned any problems with your food with a member of staff who could have resolved any issues you may of had rather than hide behind a keyboard. That’s if this review is a real one'.

I can confirm to her that this was very real,,, The scrambled egg was clearly microwaved.. pale, tastless and extremely hot!

The breakfast wrap was again extremely hot... far too hot for it to just come out of a griddle.... which validates my original statement.

And while I am standing at the till waiting to give over my hard earned money,, she ignores me ... twice!!!

If she had asked me if everything was ok I would have said the truth.... but she did'nt, I do not suppose she really cares that much.

The only positves were the tea was nice and opening the door to leave. Again... second...
