Read moreWell worth doing! We went on a Sunday of a bank holiday at about 10:30. There was no queue at all and we booked in advance. It’s worth booking in advance as if you do then you can go straight through to the barriers. As there were so few people we got an entire gondola to ourselves. I would recommend getting there earlier so you have a higher chance of it being quiet.
The experience itself is excellent. The gondolas approach very slowly with the doors open. Plenty of time to step on and take a seat. Totally silent once the doors shut. Views are good although there is not too much to look at over that side of London. It’s more just doing something unusual. Very majestic, great to get a sense of how wide the Thames is!
You can get a 1 or 2 way ticket. We got a 1 way as we wanted to use the station the other side but if you have the time then get both ways. It’s not much more and the trip is so lovely I would have done it both ways.
