Definitely the working class end of Islington, I have been using it since it opened about twenty years ago after a remodel and two storey carpark was added round the back. I refuse to use the word Eclectic. Excellent large fresh fish shop flanked by a large green grocer at the entrance, and not as frightening as it looks. Not Upper Street, more contemporary London Kazba. Excellent (mostly Gluten free) Columbian restaurant and many other stalls, catering for the less fortunate among us, me included. The picture I have added is of the shoe repair and key shop, a long time denizen, some twenty-five years. Much cheaper than B&Q, and will usually have them done in no time. I have forgotten his name, so will check it next time I am there and add it later. Now I know the majority of people from South of the Borough would not dream of going there, treat it like an anthropological expedition (pretend you are Richard Attenborough) try not to gawp with your mouth open. On the working class front; don't worry, they are mostly not white. Nags Head Market, a Dadaist dream writ large, Nigel Farage would probably faint at the site of it....

Thus is a real market where all things can be purchased. When you enter the market from Seven Sisters Road the first two stalls you'll see are the fish and fruit and vegetable stalls. Both have only fresh food, nothing that's been sitting around for days. Thd fish stall has absolutely everything, crabs (alive) and every sort of fish including my favourites snapper, cod and whitebait. The fruit stall has everything too and both are very reasonable when talking about prices. There is also an amazing Caribbean restaurant that has a great curry goat, also very reasonably priced. On top of the you have suitcases, eggs, clothes, mirrors and so much...
