A Female-Friendly Fishing Shop
As a woman venturing into the world of fishing gear for my partner Tattoo Paul, I must admit that I was initially apprehensive about stepping into a specialized shop like Roman Tackle. My lack of knowledge often leaves me feeling vulnerable to being taken advantage of, especially in what seems to be a male-dominated industry. However, from the moment I walked through the door, I was met with warmth and friendliness that instantly put me at ease.
Michelle, a delightful and knowledgeable team member, warmly greeted me with a smile. Her approachable demeanor made it easy for me to express my needs, and she genuinely listened as I described what I was looking for. Michelle not only provided great advice on the types of gear I should consider but also took the time to explain what each item was for and how it could benefit my partnerâs fishing experience. She truly made me feel like a valued customer rather than just a novice.
I also had the pleasure of interacting with Martin, who is an absolute wealth of knowledge. His expertise in the fishing world was evident, and he answered all my questions with patience and thoroughness. Thanks to their combined guidance, I was able to select the perfect gifts for my partner, making it a truly enjoyable shopping experience.
When it comes to pricing, I often find myself tempted by online deals, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Roman Tackle offered great prices that were better than many of the regular places I browse online. Plus, being able to see and handle the products firsthand was a massive advantage, ensuring that I was making informed choices rather than playing a game of chance with online purchases.
The charm of Roman Tackle goes beyond just the gear and prices; itâs a family-run shop where the care and dedication are palpable. The warm, welcoming atmosphere truly makes a difference, and it's clear that this team is passionate about helping customers find what they need. I left feeling satisfied and grateful, making the trip from Harlow well worth it.
To my delight, I also discovered that they have a stall at our local North Weald market, which I plan to visit frequently for their wonderful bargains.
In conclusion, if youâre a fellow woman hesitant to step into a fishing shop or just someone looking for quality gear, I wholeheartedly recommend Roman Tackle. With friendly staff like Michelle and Martin to guide you, youâll leave not only with great products but also with newfound confidence. Thank you again, Roman Tackle, for your guidance and...

Read moreVery unhappy customers. Me and my husband had purchased a fishing rod on Fri 22/08/25. When my husband used it over the weekend, the fishing line snapped and reel had broken first time using it. We then came in on Tues 26/08/25 to get it either exchanged or refunded. They ended up keeping my product and said they would double check with their suppliers. Their supplier changed the reel, but me not being convinced with the product anymore wanted to exchange or get it refunded, but the shop owners refused to because the rod "doesn't have a warranty". Not sure what that exactly has to do with giving a refund or exchange, but I would say, definitely make sure you are happy with your product even if it breaks before giving your money to them because you won't be getting it back! Better to buy online or from well know and established companies, there's security and confidence when you purchase that you'll get better aftercare and not feel like they just want your money
To respond to your comment: Thanks for the clarification. Still does not mitigate the issue and dissatisfaction. As a consumer my legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to a refund, repair, or replacement for such goods. I am entitled to an immediate refund if the fault is discovered within 30 days of purchase. Also, slightly contradicting to say that I was apparently happy to leave the whole set with you considering your process is to keep my product to show your supplier in order to instruct as to the next steps (again, whatever that means). I also don't know what implication I gave to make you think over the phone that I was happy with the outcome once you spoke to your supplier on Friday. No story, I had just said that we would come in as you still had the product we bought which you had not refunded or exchanged! Personally, I will always support small independent businesses that are worth my support, and in your case and how you dealt with us as customers, that's...
