Unfortunately, after my experience, I cannot endorse Stokey Popup. I booked and paid a £1,000 deposit in January for an exhibition in August. After several months of planning, I contacted them in June via email and text to arrange a date for measuring up. After a week with no response, I decided to call. I got through to the owner who seemed unaware of my booking (despite meeting them during my January visit). They advised me there was a residency that may potentially extend their lease which would clash with the dates I booked and that they would have to confer with the current residents to see if it was possible to accommodate me.
The idea of being accommodated after booking and paying the deposit was an insult. I advised them I need clarity on the situation by midday the next day. Not only did I not get a follow-up by midday or any indication of when I would be contacted, but when I called them at 3 pm they told me they still hadn’t spoken with the residents, at which point I requested my deposit back.
The lack of professionalism, consideration and accountability is unacceptable to me. This review is solely to share my experience. Any further insincere apologies are not necessary.
UPDATE : This is the reply to the owners response below ...
Evidently, you've decided to reply in an attempt to save face, that's the only thing sad about this. My booking was not proposed, it was confirmed hence my visit to your premises in January when both you and your assistant were on site. You were in conversation with contractors working on your bar space while your assistant gave my partner and I a tour and talked through the formalities including the lock-up procedure, noise levels, and additional hire costs. What seems more accurate is that the booking of the children's crèche in residency initially did not clash with my booked date but the possibility of extending their residency was of more financial value to you than honouring my booking.
If my booking was proposed how could you have monies (my deposit) to refund me? No need to reply that...

Read moreMy colleague, Kate, and I hired Stokey Pop Up to run our day workshop around reconnecting with our voice. Stokey Pop Up offered us all the amenities needed for our group- space to sit in circle, to move, and sing. A massive plus in the kitchen + outside space we used to gather during our breaks. We had a beautiful lunch in the sun. This family owned business was very professional and responsive. I could not recommend this venue more for holding your events! Thank you team Stokey Pop for helping us facilitate a great workshop that our participants hugely benefited from. We...
