Attended the Gurriers gig. The venue is only a very short walk from Piccadilly but found out when I got there you can also access it very quickly from the Mayfield Depot road too which is where the queue line was lined up towards. The queue was incredibly slow I'm afraid. Missed the first support but could obviously hear them as it's an open venue under a motorway. Tickets were being checked via old fashioned clipboard so maybe the ticket scanners were not operating? Its my first visit and will give benefit of doubt, it's primarily a skate park after all. Once in the venue was fantastic. Good range of drinks with some of the best staff too, never had to queue as service was really fast. Bundobust provided catering and was just as fresh as in the restaurant. The sound in the venue is brilliant. I couldn't hear any traffic and it's a nice atmosphere. The floor is obviously a day to day skate park.. under 18s sliding down ramps were in their element. Older people nervously navigating steep ramps and mosh pit kerbs. If the venue puts on more gigs (please!) then worth investing in some temp flooring to protect the skate park and create a flatter viewing area. Portaloos were a bit dark and urinals were across the road so has it's quirks. The Gurriers were amazing and the venue does have a great enclosed feel. Overall a...
Read moreUsed to once be an amazing inclusive skatepark where all people from all backgrounds would go for a affordable priced skate session. Unfortunately since the revamp it has gone down hill. The owner has proven time and time again that his aim is to earn money and not focus on the skaters that attend the park. He continues to ignore countless complaints about equality issues and issues regarding massive events held at the park that are unrelated to skateboarding. We were promised last year that once business picked up again after lockdown prices would go down to the affordable price it once was but it has remained the same and is now unaffordable for many young people who used to love and enjoy the park. It seems that the owner is filled with false promises, full of excuses and is no longer focussed on the main aim of the park. This is no longer a skatepark this is a music venue for people who want to get drunk, ruin the park and cause mayhem. These views by the owner are not only unfair on those who put money to help the park get to where it is so that they and many others could enjoy it but also unfair on the amazing team that work there and continue to try their hardest to keep the values of...
Read moreI’ve been driving past Projekts for years and this half term, had the opportunity to take my just-turned 5yo to the holiday club which ran from 10am-1pm (with optional lunch when booked). It was bloody amazing! All equipment was provided and the staff were welcoming. Lucas(?) the coach was brilliant – engaging and friendly, from safety to basics and tips. The whole place was clean, well-maintained and friendly with a chilled vibe plus they do a really good latte and bacon bagel! My little boy was buzzing, made a friend, and we ended going back a few days later, taking our laptops to work in the seating area upstairs (free WiFi) with full-height windows looking over the park. My only comment was later in the week, it was a little less structured and more free play, so the kids tended to do their own thing (sliding down ramps mainly!) but he had fun nonetheless. Definitely recommend and definitely will be returning for...
