I have been to this pool twice. The first time was fine and on both occasions, the front desk were great. The changing rooms also seemed pretty well kept.
However, I got pretty ill after my second visit which I wouldnāt normally connect to a pool but unfortunately, my experience last week has made me link the two.
The pool and the surrounding area had a foul smell of stale, dirty water. The area around the pool where the plastic seats were had a slimy, greasy and slippery substance on the floor. It was disgusting. The pool wall also had a line of brown/grey scum along the water line. Once I had noticed this, I decided to leave the pool and head home. The smell was so unbearable, it was difficult to not hold your breath and a fellow swimmer commented as he left that the pool smelled rancid and he had also cut his swim short. I didnāt think much of it, other than āthis is nowhere near as clean as last weekā.
Later that evening, I was quite ill and 8 days on, Iām still not 100%. I emailed them politely to inform them, in case anybody else had had a similar experience. Not to complain or to gain anything. Just to inform. I received a rather rude reply which suggested I was lying. It was played down as a āstomach bugā and that they ensure their cleaning schedule is completed weekly. If the pool is rancid and has a scum line, the clean hasnāt happened or hasnāt happened properly. The bottom of the pool was disgusting too, covered in debris which was denied by the person on the end of my email.
They also claimed that they conduct pool tests every two hours. The previous week, I had spent over two hours in and around the pool and hadnāt noticed any such thing. They were dismissive instead of being hospitable. It worried me as the person on the email said there was a kidās class after my experience. I hope they had cleaned the pool before...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's an open pool, and for that, I'm grateful.
Cost is reasonable, but you can tell things are being cut back. When we went, the building felt like there was no heating on at all. Colder than outside when in the family changing area, standing water throughout the lockers. 3 showers in open space right next to the main walk through from the male and female changing rooms meant I couldn't shower my child properly and had no cubicles or stalls for privacy. Eventually, I found a shower in the disabled toilets and used that. Even this was lukewarm, no matter the setting.
The pool itself was the perfect depth for kids. That's all the positives I can think of. Again, the water was cold but warmer than the air temperature. The rotating fountain was covered in some kind of warning tape, the main (orange) slide closed and looked to be being repaired, and we were not informed of this at reception. The small one is really for very young children and of little interest to my child, but with little else to do, it does get used.
When we asked for a pool noodle from the massive pile, so my daughter could practice swimming, we were refused and told they were for lessons only despite others in the pool using some that belonged to the pool. Someone was kind enough to leave one when their session was up.
Random hose pipe dangling in the pool beyond the bridge for some reason.
I hope that changes are made so that the pool doesn't fall to the same fate as Falmouths public pool. Sadly, with experiences like mine, attendance from locals will decline until its customers are just those unaware of the issues with little to no repeat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis swimming pool and changing rooms is absolutely filthy. The dirtiest I have ever been to. There was rubbish and used nappies in the family changing room when we got changed and there's no shoes off rule so there was mud, grass etc. everywhere. The actual swimming pool had what looked like chunks of sick or food in wherever I looked. When u looked down the sides of the flumes or just any corner etc. it was just disgustingly dirty like it had never ever been cleaned. Then we got out and as there were no family changing rooms free I went to take my little one to the female changing room and it was even worse there was sooo much hair on the floor, tissue, just all kind of grosseness. We went back to family changing room and got one but the door didn't lock. It honestly was so disgusting. I am fully expecting us all to contract some kind of sickness or disease in the next few days, I'll keep u posted on that! It genuinely needs closing down, deep cleaned and proper cleaners hired to regularly clean changing rooms and procedures for cleaning the pool areas. Or just literally demolish it and start over it's that filthy. I very politely fedback at the end that the kids had had fun but it was so dirty and the guy on reception finished my sentence like it was a common complaint but said all the lifeguards are young and cant be bothered with the cleaning. I dont think this is an excuse as the lifeguards at oasis are young but its spotless. Get cleaners, train the lifeguards i dont know but do something or this place should be shut down. On the up side the kids had a good time on the slides and...
