I recently visited Ministry of Flavours in Penzance and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. Despite ordering two starters and two main courses for two people, we both left the restaurant still feeling hungry—and had to stop elsewhere to eat again. This has never happened to me before at any restaurant.
The portion sizes were shockingly small. For example, one piece of kebab cost around £5–6, and even basic condiments like mint chutney had to be ordered separately. I ordered a small portion of butter chicken and was shocked to be served a tiny bowl with just one piece of chicken—for around £6. and it was literally served in a bowl no bigger than a small scoop of ice cream—with just one single piece of chicken in it. That’s simply not acceptable.
The biryani was average at best, and again, we had to pay extra for raita, which is usually served alongside it. It’s like ordering coffee and then being charged extra for the sugar—it just doesn’t make sense.
My serious concern is with the way the pricing is presented. The menu gives the impression of fair pricing, but the portions served are extremely disappointing and not filling for even one adult. It feels misleading. As someone who’s dined in many restaurants across various countries, I can say this is the first time I’ve felt this level of dissatisfaction.
I genuinely wouldn’t mind paying more if the food portions were reasonable. I strongly urge the management to reconsider the portion sizes or make the menu clearer so customers know what to expect. No one should leave a restaurant feeling hungry after ordering...
Read moreLast week on Thursday I had the pleasure of dining at Ministry of Flavour in Penzance, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, the chef personally came out to take our order. His explanation and recommendations were both helpful and professional, making us feel well taken care of.
The food was delivered promptly and was beautifully presented. Special mention goes to how they adjusted the dishes to cater to my vegan and vegetarian friend’s needs without compromising on taste or quality. Every bite was a delightful blend of flavors, truly capturing the essence of India in each dish. The balance of spices was perfect—not too hot, not too mild, just right.
I also appreciated their beer, which was fresh and served from the tap. The prices are very reasonable for the quality you receive. The Royal Feast option, at £24.95 per person, is an excellent choice if you want to sample a wide array of flavors the restaurant offers. It’s a fantastic way to experience a bit of India in Penzance through thoughtfully crafted dishes.
Overall, is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality Indian cuisine with...
