Read moreAll of the vegan food was really great and it's really welcoming that they offer so many vegan options. Vegan Fish&Chips made from banana blossoms with the vegan tartar sauce was superb. Chips were good and crispy, peas not really. Booking a table in the evening is advised. We booked one the day before via email. They didn't find our reservation though but luckily still had a free table. What I didn't like was that almost everything was not available or delivered like it was written in the menu (and no notice in the menu about unavailability). The mediterranea. quinoa salad had no quinoa in it, I think it was Ebly (wheat). And also the small salad is really expensive for 8.95£. A gin was advertised to be decorated with strawberries but there was no strawberry. And finally there are desserts in the menu that you cannot (always) order and at least I didn't saw a notice about that. They brought us a small blackboard with dessert instead and the vegan cheesecake should have come with vegan vanilla ice cream but the server informed us that only pistachio is available. Dunno if they've just run out before we ordered. All in all the food was great but the experience with the menu and differences to what is written in the menu was a bit annoying. We did not say anything as it was fine for us, we were just surprised and it happened with so many different things. Also, it would be nice to see what non alcoholic drinks can be ordered and not (nowhere mentioned and no menu for that) to be looked at strangely by the waiter when you want to order something non alcoholic.
I would still go to the Turks Head again when in...
Read moreAfter reading the bad reviews on this site. I do have to say I agree with many of them. For my starter I got the king prawns. They as stated were in a nice sauce, however they werenât peeled, leaving me to stick my hands into the pool of sauce and peel them. I have to say, with a little planning that would of been a nice starter.
I got the last portion of sausage and mash (which Iâm hoping is the reason I got a slither of mash and a bowl full of gravy, with two sausages drowned at the bottom.) As you can possibly see from my quotations, I didnât get any vegetables with my main course. Unless you count the slimy onions placed on top .
My parents got the curry. It said on the menu that it came with poppadoms, which they soon realised werenât actually on their plate. Finally once they asked, the waiter, offered them some bread as a consolation prize.
It would of been nice to know that they were out of them before ordering. The curryâs were very dry, and as my grandad proudly stated âthis is no curryâ the meat was chewy and my dad said âthat it would be alright in a sandwich but not on its own.â The rice was in a small quantity for the price.
For the desert as a table we ordered 3 brownies with mint chocolate icecream. They were fine. No complaints.
The only thing saving this place from a 1 star review (even after reading the owners obnoxious responses to peopleâs reviews) was the waiter, who was very nice and polite, and the fact that we got our money back for one of the curryâs. (Most of my family wanted to be polite and not complain, yet my...
