Lovely food, unique and fresh ingredients, fresh focaccia, marinated prawns had a good portion but pollock amazing taste yet overpriced for a small plate. Staff seamed lovely and working really hard. Place with a nice vibe and barn/natural/floral design. Unfortunately, the person who sat us down on a table (short black hair, tattoo sleeves), after we had our food around an hour later, made us feel very unwelcome. While still having half a carafe of wine, she put a reservation sign on a table, saying “Don’t worry, you still have an hour and a half”. I was too surprised to respond but few minutes later she came with a new sign, which indicated half an hour earlier reservation. Then, I said this is rude and she responded defensively “we only allow 2 hour sittings”. I answered back that when she showed us to the table, she never mentioned that, so she took the sign, leaving the previous one on with no apology or reflection. We left after our drink as we didn’t feel welcome. We wanted to have a dessert and a coffee, and come back next day for a breakfast but we obviously haven’t. If you treat people like money machines, with no respect, even the nicest place and food, loses its charm.

We have never been here before. Me and my friend just popped in this place because someone said about it and we just wanted a pot of tea each and a cake. The staff were rude and the manager didn't see an issue with anything. No sugar or tea spoons given when we got the tea. It took ages for us to find someone to let us know where the sugar and tea spoons were kept. My friend had a hard time trying to get someone to get more toilet paper to put in the toilets. The tea they used tasted perfumey like herbal tea does and wasn't very nice at all. We tried to explain to the manager about it all. My friend even tried talking to the chef. Her response was the chef wasn't customer facing and that is why he didn't reply even though he was facing the tables. Not even oh I'm not sure or anything or pointing us in the right direction. She left before we could make a proper complaint. I left most of the tea and the only thing that was good was the vegan chocolate cake I had. Me and friend decided to walk down the road to The Turks to have a proper cuppa, where the staff are lovely and the music isn't deafening and I can have a conversation.

Really really REALLY good food. Lovely owners , who care about what their doing. In the off seasons call before you go make a journey , they may not always open at times shown on google maps. *Revisiting this in 2023* Place has changed with pluses and negatives. No more table service , you seat yourself and order at the bar. I actually like this way of doing things - in a busy London restaurant it makes sense - but here (?) you’re paying £££ and it takes away from the experience. Food prices have gone up (as they have everywhere - so no problem) but the prices here have gone up too far. This restaurant used to be based on sharing platters/ plates and now the food is mains / sharing plates but it’s not very clear. Mozzarella and squash with a seed cracker was £15 and would at a push serve 2 people. So the food costs more and the portion sizes vary. £10 for flatbread ? I appreciate that the food is organic, locally sourced and ofcourse everyone needs to make a living but I don’t think the prices match the portion size and general vibe of the restaurant. Oh and they don’t take cash which is a HUGE minus for me!

The interiors and plants are wonderful, and the place has huge potential because of that. However, everything else - the menu, the pricing, the service was abysmal. It was a special occasion for a friend who was leaving to go and live in Bristol, but it turned out so badly that in the end we had to just laugh, pay the bill and go elsewhere (The Cornish Barn).

For example, they had run out of olives (!) so they plonked a stem of vine tomatoes onto a board instead - no dressing, just taken straight from a punnet and plonked. We had toasted sourdough bread, and had to ask the waitress for some olive oil and balsamic to dip it in. That should have been automatic.

Best of all, I ordered the sardine pate. After half an hour, it still hadn't arrived so I reminded the waitress. She arrived a few minutes later with a tiny little foil tin (like something you'd get on an aeroplane) which she literally flung down on the table in front of me. No knife, no napkin, no plate, no courtesy whatsoever. My fellow guests were actually embarrassed for me. To add insult to injury, the pate was from Portugal. Why not Newlyn?

I then went to the bar, where two young girls were standing around talking and doing nothing much else, and asked if I could have a knife. One languidly gestured to a self-service cutlery station, instead of getting it for me.

If you are going to have to pay over the top prices, you should receive good service in return. As it is, I will not be going back there until they have seriously got their act together. Very...

Hats off to 45 queen st! I went for a meal with my mum and can honestly say it's one of the best meals I've had out, for so many reasons. Firstly flavour, we chose 3 dishes and every one was creative, so fresh and bursting with flavours. The sort of food you slow down to eat, savouring each mouthful.

Secondly the wine, it's was all delicious.

Then the puddings, we had the chocolate cremaeux and the honey possett. So creamy, so tasty and the perfect finish to the meal.

I can honestly say I felt like I was having a holistic experience! And to top it all off the prices were really fair. For the quality of food and drinks, which felt like fine dining in a really relaxed, Informal setting, the prices were so bang on. So I didn't leave feeling like a had a hole in my pocket from a really inadequate meal. ( Which seems to be becoming the norm in other places) I felt like I had the best dining experience eating fabulous food in a wonderful setting!

Well done for the thought that has gone into 45 queen st and the love.

It's not table service as such here, so can be a little confusing at first, but once you get into the rhythm and work out where you order and how much to order between you. (Shared plates are commen) Then...
