A great place to take the whole family.... especially little children.
If you are feeling strapped for cash and want some fresh air and a chance for the children to run around with a football this is a wonderful place for a sunny day.
Dogs on leads are welcomed
The park is enclosed by a low fence, there are toilets there and a traditional cafe
Also best of all...2 wonderful things for the little ones enjoyed by generations of Plymouthians and visitors...the Gus Honey bun train and the teacup roundabout.
At only 50p each a go they are a longstanding favourite for our family. Adults can get on with their little ones They have to pay 50p too.
The Gus Honey bun train clatters off with all aboard for a long ride when the little kiddies can clang the bell and wave while they go around! Fantastic...
The teacups are bright and colourful and fun too but they may make oldies giddy😭
Afterwards there's loads of space for all ages to play ball on the grass...or picnic..
Or crossing the road you can walk along the seafront to look at the ships or up to the open air pool or Smeatons tower.
There are other activities and amusements for older kids around the corner if you want to spend more cash.....but the activities can be costly if you don't watch out😭
Further round the path still there is an excellent free recreation ground with swings and other play equipment and adult seats. No dogs...

To enjoy the rides inside, you need to purchase tokens – £2 per token. There are small amusement rides like bumper cars, bumper boats, a mini excavator for scooping gravel, and a small bouncy trampoline. It’s suitable for children around 3 to 5 years old. My 4-year-old son had a great time!
However, there was only one staff member selling tokens, so for rides like the bumper boats, you need to get on and unhook the boat yourself. That said, because it wasn’t crowded and there were no queues, three of us had lots of fun playing freely in the bumper car area. And no entrance fee is needed there !
Next to it, there’s a small public playground. Outside, on the grassy area, there’s a mini train ride and a large inflatable bouncy area. However, these require tokens from a different operator, and they’re also £2 per token. There’s a small café nearby where you can buy ice cream, hot dogs, and other snacks.
Overall, it’s a great place for young kids around 3–4 years old! We had a lovely time. Just make sure to check their closing times – we missed it at the first day as it had already closed. On the second day, we went earlier and got to...
