Recently booked direct to stay in the ground floor sea facing apartment as a surprise trip for husbands birthday, perfectly located as we were also enjoying a visit to the Theatre (less than 10 minute walk away). Communication with the duty managers, and social media team were fab and really helpful with questions prior to making the booking. ||Access to the apartment, check in and arrival info were all text and emailed making it very easy on the day of arrival. We were informed prior to our stay there was building works so parking would be different but we parked outside the building and has no problems whatsoever, again the duty manager was very helpful with this (via text). ||Although it is an aparthotel there was no on one the reception desk for the entire duration of our stay, not necessarily an issue as we had all the info we needed via email. ||The apartment itself was stunning. The views were amazing. Everything was fresh and clean and we could not find fault with anything whatsoever. Knowing it was my husbands birthday they had even placed some balloons and happy birthday helium balloon in the living area, such a great personal touch. There was tea, coffee and milk provided - a coffee machine with pods. There was a washing machine, dishwasher and pods provided for these also. The mezzanine level bedroom was quirky and initially we thought the ladder was a bit nerve wracking until we discovered you could pull it out at an angle and made it much easier to use! The bed up here was larger than the second bedroom but it was great to have the option of both. There was a dressing table with plug sockets beneath it in the second bedroom and lots of built in storage. The bathroom was modern and clean, the shower had two options and pressure was great - toiletries also provided, large bath sheets for towels were a nice touch. ||We visited the Ocean View at the Dome which is less than 5 minutes opposite for our evening meal and would highly recommend. They also open for breakfast but we had already decided to use our own facilities to make our own. We’re glad we did as the next day it was extremely stormy but great to watch the view. The large old wooden windows did allow a slight breeze through but we didn’t mind as the weather was exceptionally bad and assumed the beautiful building is listed. There was a lovely soft fleece blanket provided so we could snuggle under that until the heating had warmed the apartment up - which was super quick and efficient! ||Unfortunately the only negative of our stay was that after arriving back from our evening out a group of guests arrived fairly late (around midnight) and had problems accessing the building. They then to-ed and fro-ed somewhat through the night and as there apartment was behind ours it was fairly disturbing. When they slammed a door and woke us at 5am we rang the duty manager who said they’d be spoken to. We were then woken again at 6:50 with one of them leaving. Another text to the duty manager and we were graciously told our checkout was extended to 2pm. Unfortunately I guess just one of those things and having not shared in an apartment/air B&B type property before something we didn’t anticipate might happen. An email to the general manager after our stay to raise this meant they could look at ways to maybe prevent this in the future. Unfortunately this booking was made via an outside agency so they had less control over the time of booking and guest arrival. A shame when trying to get a good nights sleep for a child free weekend but other than this we couldn’t fault the apartment itself. ||Having since looked on the website I have noticed there is use of a nearby health club I didn’t realise this and would have loved to have made use of this. Maybe some further information within the room if there isn’t anyone available at reception would be helpful? ||We would more than likely stay here again and hope to get a better nights sleep without disturbance because it’s such a lovely location, stunning apartment and well situated for a weekend...
Read moreThe two bed apartment (no7) is clean, modern, comfortable and spacious. It's simply but beautifully decorated, with nice touches like soft close drawers and cupboards and dimmer switches. There's a small family bathroom (which we almost didn't find as the door to it looks like a cupboard door, not a room door, haha) and an en suite. These both had very nice toiletries included. The smaller bedroom has a lovely sea view, which our daughter was very excited to see! The living room also looks over the sea and Drake's Island. It was nice to arrive to a full fruit bowl on the dining table and bottles of water and some milk in the fridge. The sofa and beds are comfortable. The only thing I would have liked to have was a blanket. The apartment is light and airy, which is great, but I was a bit chilly and a blanket would have been preferable to putting the heating on (the bedroom was like a sauna when we woke up in the night!). There is some parking out front and the seafront, Plymouth Pavilions, Drake Circus (shopping centre with shops to suit all budgets and lots of food choices) and town centre are all within a few minutes walk. We came to Plymouth for the tattoo convention so we're unsure if we would be in the city again but, if we were to visit, we'd look to stay here and would definitely...
Read moreA bad experience. Having paid extra for a sea view I was put on the ground floor and the view was of a hedge. When I arrived no-one was there, no-one answered the phone, only by asking a neighbour did I get the number of the owner who said he'd 'come down'. After waiting outside in the cold for fifteen minutes I was finally texted the entry code. Maybe a good idea to do that beforehand? The rooms were okay but loud music and shouting from below meant I had to spend the evening in the bedroom. Why put guests next to each other when the rest of the place was empty? Then I hardly got any sleep because of a fan or generator noise all night long. Altogether a huge...
