Seafront Steps — Attraction in Portsmouth

I just love the whole of Portsmouth's stunning promenade and on a day like today to be able to walk it from beginning to end, what can I say? Just do it. It's as beautiful as anywhere in the world; clean sandy beaches, clear warm water, super cafes, coffee shops, a revitalised Pier, Canoe lake and park, tennis courts, ice cream vans, a castle, a bandstand, DD Museum, a fair including Portsmouth's own Eye (huge ferris wheel) ferries and terrific views of the Isle of Wight, Gunwharf, the historic dockyard.....I could go on and on and have probably missed a lot of eye catching and enjoyable places so go and find out for yourself and walk the prom....

There were a lot of repairs done here due to storm damage and the wall and part of the promenade were breached.The older sea defences have been here since the mid 1970's. It can get interesting in the winter and during storms.Exhilarating in the winter months,a great place to stroll in the summer.I remember the zig zag paving being laid along the seafront in the 70's and early 80's and if they are original have survived remarkably well.I lived in Southsea back then,a few...
