Lord John Russell Southsea — Restaurant in Portsmouth

Usually a decent little pub, come here every now and then. Bar staff are lovely, HOWEVER, last night me and few friends went there for a drink and a sing along. But our night was rudely interrupted by some bald guy, originally he tried getting my mate kicked out cause he was vaping (didn’t warn us). We apologised to the bouncers, vaped outside and thought that was it done. We go back in, go to the bar and the bald guy approaches us again, this time threatening us. We ignore this and try to get on with our night, then all of a sudden the bouncers come over and say we have to leave.

We went outside as instructed to, we then got told we had to leave as “it’s easier to have the 4 of you leave than him”. While we’re getting told this, the bald guy then came out and threatened us infront of the bouncers but continued to let this individual stay.

3 of the bouncers were good, but the tall one who wouldn’t give his name was very odd. Kept saying stuff like “you wanna chin him”, just kept referencing fighting and we kept saying no. Not ideal, won’t be bringing...

I used to love this place , the burgers were awesome . Anyway got there at 17.45 even though the board said food served until 9pm . I was informed that the kitchen would close in 10 minutes so ordered burgers , what struck me as strange was a staff member who's head seemed to be in the clouds , he was half with you and half wasn't if you know what I mean . When the burgers arrived after 5 minutes , you can tell that they were microwaved , the brioche bun was like a helmet , stale and rock hard , the beef was grey and weird tasting , not pleasant , could not eat the bun unless we'd brought along a chisell ! 4 staff members passed by us half hour after we'd finished the awful meal , even though it was empty , not one of them took our plates away or even acknowledged us , the ladies toilets had vomit everywhere , for a Sunday afternoon I would avoid this place , it's gone downhill faster than a steps song , waste of money and such a shame , the staff have no customer service skills whatsoever , so...

So one off visit as never been to pub before usually go to purple mango restaurant and then kings pub for drinks. Pleasantly surprised as staff were very friendly and pub was spacious with plenty of tv’s and music. Spent a fair few hours here and had time with my daughter and son in law who brought me and my partner dinner. All our meals were lovely except mine which was a bacon/chicken/avacado salad….which had a sad lack of avacado!!!! Bar was busy so tried to get some attention but no joy!! Once the lack of avacado was mentioned to bar staff I was offered the avacado seperately, by chef, even though I had already consumed my meal! This was refused! No offer of a refund/drink or dessert in replace of basically a main ingredient for the £10.50 meal?!! A little disappointed to be honest, as staff really didn’t seem concerned! Must say very dog friendly. Will I visit again?….mmm possibly for drinks!...
