Porters — Restaurant in Portsmouth

I am absolutely disgusted with the service in this place. We were 8 of us for a birthday night and one young skinny with long black hair waitress asked us to move to a table that was smaller than the one we were already. When she said "Do you mind to change table?" Well, I didn't but when I saw the table we were being change to, I then said to her, "Actually, yes, I do mind. They're 8 of us and the table is too small for all of us" She then gave me the "look". Me and others were not happy the move but we still did so. At this point, I then saw, the waitress and other staff in the kitchen looking at me through the window so I went to see them and was going to ask if we could be change back as there was not enough room for all of us and before I could say that, the other staff said to me turn around, walk away. I was absolutely gobsmacked. I went back to my friends and before you know it. The 2 doormen came to our table and told me that I made their staff uncomfortable and that I needed to leave????? We all left disgusted and went somewhere else to carry on our birthday party. This place is unbelievable, no respect for customers that questions their actions. I will never go...

Initial good visit marred by piss-poor customer service.

Popped in on Sunday with the family for a quick bite and a couple of beverages after attending the King's Theatre Open Day.

Initially impressed having not visited Porters in a while.

Experienced marred by Chef's fiddling the stock by cutting portion size. Minor issue... Menu said 6 chicken wings specifically and was served 5. On raising with the server however the response was poor. "Chef's changing the spec" is not a noteworthy excuse when the menu clearly states something else. Server didn't fixed the issue (clearly under the guidance of misgyided Chefs). Manager also did not attend to fix the issue... unclear as to if they were actually informed.

Dissapointing response to a small service issue that could have been easily solved... just lead to frustration. Shame as food was good and bear choices excellent... won't be returning however as just can't trust the menu will be honoured. Suggest patrons check what dishes include in detail before...

Seen them posting on Instagram and it looked awesome. Right up my street. Decided to go for our anniversary and try something different.

It was a Sunday when they opened. Nice and quiet. Clean and comfortable.

The menu is small, but there is enough to mix and match. Nice selection of drinks and all reasonable priced.

When the food came, we were shocked! The portions are huge! We shared a pulled pork burrito and chicken nachos. We were stuffed.

Each dish was packed full of flavour. Made with fresh ingredients and you can taste it isn't corporate packet stuff.

10/10. Highly recommend and are planning on returning...
