We love this place. Since the lockdown the council has made most of the embankment pedestrians and bicycles only. So it’s great to walk the dog, and visit the memorial. It’s a very moving tribute and we leave flowers every year to remember those no longer with us. The gardens to the rear are beautiful and well kept. There’s a statue of Queen Victoria and lovely fountains. Lots of squirrels and ducks, a very peaceful and serene place. Every year on remembrance Sunday there is a service held and wreathes laid.

If it was to be left to go wild then poppies would have been more appropriate. I'm sure it wouldn't take long to tidy up the memorial itself. Lovely grounds to walk around aswell as the usual rides/food stalls and arts and crafts marquees ..there's lots of activities to take part in. Never made it til the fireworks but have been told they're spectacular. The music stages are also great to go and chill by,lots of great live music! Would recommend...
