Every year so many innocent horses get pushed and pushed to win a race that all in all means absolutely nothing in comparison to the meaning of a horses life. They will race sometimes at the expense of their lives or welfare.
For example: Crucial Role and Forest des Aigles this year 2019.
One horse is seen in an image having broken its legs but is STILL IN THE RACE. How is this in any way acceptable? It’s abuse and there is no argument about it. The grand national is a cruel race and as a rider myself i can confidently say that this is NOT the life a young horse should be put through. The horses get injured and put down as if their lives meant nothing. I understand that there comes a point when the injuries are so severe that the horse must be euthanised, however when these injuries were avoidable in the first place it is completely unacceptable.
The deaths and injuries of these beautiful animals aren’t shown on the news, only the positives that they want the public to see.
There are plenty other activities one can do with horses, hacking, dressage, showjumping or safe racing. Just please not this.
It needs to end before anymore horses lives are put in danger.
I have a few questions:
Why does this race happen every year despite the severe injuries of the previously healthy horses?
Do you care about the horses?
Do the riders care about the horses?
Are you ever going to do anything about this issue?
is it going to be ignored like in previous...
Read moreWe had a last minute booking for the Grand National so only the Steeplechase enclosure was available. I've been to many events on the bottom rung and it doesn't necessarily take anything away form the event. On this occasion though, it definitely felt like 3rd class - it was reminiscent of those scenes in the Titanic! I thought I could make up for the appalling lack of facilities by absorbing the atmosphere. But to be honest, it was just full of drunk louts. Although I don't blame most of those people because facilities were none existent. Food and drink was low grade and extortionate. Limited bookies, no shelter whatsoever. And finally, you just get to see a bit of the Grand National, all other races are on the big screen. I ended up leaving early because it really wasn't up to much. That's disappointing given that it was the Grand National! I was comparing this to our Gold Cup which I've done on the cheap also and it was brilliant in comparison. Overall this course or race is probably fantastic if you are in the more expensive enclosures but I still don't think is acceptable what they are offering within the Steeplechase. Unless your planning on getting plastered, it's worth avoiding unless you buy a...
Read moreThis was my 41st visit to the Grand National which is an event that I look forward to all year. There are other big racing festivals with superb racing provided, but to me the National has a mystery and intrigue about it unlike any other race. For the second year in a row, the weather Gods smiled kindly on Aintree and this made the day even more enjoyable. Let us get this straight, if you do not like crowds and the associated hurly burly, then Aintree is NOT for you..I had a rooftop ticket which afforded me with excellent, panoramic views of the racecourse. Most of the race goers have sight also of a large screen which shows the racing.Tickets are not cheap and food and drink are expensive. But, having said that, it needs to be remembered that there is only one Aintree National each year and it is an incredible spectacle.Facilities are decent too, there are countless food and drink outlets and also a lot of Totepool and other betting facilities. I did find the stairs up to the roof quite challenging and I will have to think about getting lower level tickets or go to a stand with a lift...
