I had my sons first ever birthday party today. For context my son is autistic, non verbal & has only just started making friends in school. I spoke to Claudia in the centre back in April about potentially booking a party. I had already done my research and i visit the centre regularly as its my sons favourite soft play. I explained the situation as i was really nervous to book it (thinking of all the things that could go wrong) Claudia gave me so much reassurance and how we could run a party for him. When she rang me a week before his party, she was so understanding, went through everything with me, answered all my questions and actually ran it herself for him today. She, as well as all staff are above and beyond. She created a sensory room free of charge, gave us extra time for the birthday march, checked in on us all throughout the party, but most importantly she made this party so special for me and my son. I really wish every play centre had someone like you Claudia, from a parent of autism, you have really made my day, and you made my little boy feel so special today. I cannot recommend you guys enough to people. To say you accommodate to the level you do for children with additional needs is absolutely amazing. You...
Read moreWe went to Medieval Mayhem for the first time today with our toddler. We found the under 2's area quite small which was constantly being invaded by older, boisterous children chucking themselves and the soft toys around. We did see a member of staff ask older children to leave the area but parents seemed to be paying zero attention to what their kids were doing so it didn't last long.
The pricing structure doesn't really seem to match the play areas. Under 1s are free. 1-3 are £4.45 and 3+ £6.45 but the play areas are for under 2's, 2-4 and 4+. If you've got a child under 2 I'm not sure it's worth £4.45 plus the £2 per adult entry fee.
For older children the play area looked really good but my rating is based on the toddler area. I know the staff can't do much about the parents but we've been to a few soft plays and this was the worst we've seen for parents just leaving their kids completely unattended (including a baby left face down in the under 2's area!!!).
Some areas could have been cleaner and they stopped serving food at 11.10am (we were in the 9.30-12pm) slot which seemed quite early but I guess there's a wait and they want you to...
Read moreI’d love to give more stars as the place is very clean and well maintained, but the last few visits have been really disappointing. The toddler area clearly states it’s for little ones (up to age 3 or 4), yet older children (7+) are constantly in there. They’re swinging off the frames, running, and even fighting — my little girl has already come out with two bruises to her head from being knocked over, and one nearly hit her in the face while swinging.
The most frustrating part is that staff can see this happening but don’t step in. It ruins the experience for the toddlers, who should have a safe space to play with children their own age. I do understand some of it comes from older kids’ parents sitting near the toddler section even though they don’t actually have young children, I can see why that makes it awkward for staff to enforce the rules but just not great for the toddlers.
Yes, kids will knock into each other — that’s normal. But having much bigger children charging around a space clearly marked for toddlers is unacceptable. Until staff take this seriously and start moving older children out, it’s hard to...
