We visited the place as it was recommended to us and the reviews were good. We had a very frosty reception for a lady with curly long black hair. I've never seen anyone less friendly in my entire life and esp NOT in Cornwall. She prob hates her job. She sent us to our table and handed us over to yet another unfriendly waitress with pigtails and glasses. Our drinks were wrong, our starters took ages to arrive (no apologies and zero care about us in general as we waited for like an hour for food), the starters tasted OK but the mains were a disaster just cremated chicken instead of a chicken snitzel. It was so bad we had trouble cutting it. Again waited for like half an hour for more drinks and by that time we gave up. Zero interest for our pup we had to ask for water as we were there for hours in the sun. I've never seen staff so miserable so bored and so slow ever before. The quality and presentation of food could be better too for the prices they charge. They base all their business on the great views and location but that is no merit of their own. You can find much better places and restaurants in Cornwall/ St Ives where you are treated like a respected paying customer and much better and you feel your custom is being valued. I won't recommend this place at all. We spent a small fortune amd couldn't wait to...

NEW Review 2024 AUG * Booked 6 weeks in advance, but my goodness is so worth it. By far the best meal we have had while on holiday! We booked inside for dinner and breakfast in a pod.
The food was stunning, went for the tapas. Ordered 7 dishes and wine along with a kids meal and x1 dessert £117.
The view is amazing! Food exceptional and Service perfect! Highly recommend!!
Aug 2023 ** Wow, what a perfect evening! We visited last with my husband and son. We had booked months in advance for here. We were 10 minutes early, but our table was ready, and we had a warm welcome. Our view from our table was amazing! All of the inside tables are by the window. Wine was lovely, kids menu good. My 5-year-old had sausage and chips and beans with some milk. We went for the tapas! The hake! The prawns! Basically, everything was devine. Food arrived within 15 minutes, which was fab! Chocolate tart was also delicious. Everything was fantastic, service, food, atmosphere, and evening. This is the best meal we have had on holiday this week. It wasn't cheap, but well worth the...
Read moreWe have visited twice this week and the difference from other restaurants is clear the moment you are greeted and taken to your table. It has the same level of service and attention to detail as an international airline - business class. All we wanted was a sharing early afternoon cream tea - and some fries! We had witnessed other customers on the receiving end of this choice a couple of days before and it looked amazing. The whole Porthmeor Beach Cafe team are smartly dressed in the Brand and immaculately turned out. The restaurant was very busy, but there was no rushing around. The Maître d' ensured everything ran smoothly along the whole length of the beach-side establishment. It was clear that some tables would be spending considerably more than us on this occasion, but the respect, friendliness and good humour of each team member was extended to all. When the food arrived we asked if it was a strange to receive an order of fries and cream tea, to which the waitress leaned in and said, 'Not at all, chips with chocolate is even better!' Needless to say, the fries were amazing and the cream tea to die for - only to be upstaged by the quality of the team who were a credit to their managers and company. Fabulous. Thank you....
