So... i/ we have stayed at this pub/ inn with rooms, several times before- always around xmas, and its disappointing to see it slowly but steadily falling from grace. It's the price you see. For a £150.00 room b and b, there are some 'value added' needs and they are now missing presumed lost. Staff were in all cases fine... no complaints, but in our Admirals room the state of the bathroom did not do service to the well manicured and exceptionally well primed bedroom.. tired, tired and, well, tired. The bedroom was very comfy..tv one of the best.. Netflix, iplayer all available...and comfortable bed ( tho pillows could be less hard)... and so to the food and drink. We hoped for the advertised( all over the bar) cocktails to start the xmas jaunt, but they were refused... no sorry, or reason..that was most disappointing ...and then breakfast. Hmmm it's been decades since a yogurt was provided with 49p advertised on its side for a ' proper' breakfast...this along with a plastic surrounding bag around the pain au chocolat! The cooked salmon and scrambled egg were lovely..and the restaurant decor prompted nicely, but let down by this weird aberration! So...must do better ( a lot) for the money...location is not everything in this instance.. and we will not be returning.

We went to celabrate my sister birthday, it was 3 of us. Sea food plater was good but is not a meal as there is no side with it or bread is just what you see, a few leaves as a bed doesnt count has salad, I would say this is more a starter than a meal for 2 as advertised, the price was £49, I loved the mussels with whine and cream served with this, that was spot on. We also had the paelha which had a good amount of prawns and mussels but the rice didnt taste good and that was not a paelha, read rice with prawns and muscles is not a paelha. There was an old lady clearing tables outside that came to our table about 10 times while we where eating asking over and over again if we had finished eating to clear the table and making comments like "oh you still going".. when we where still eating, very unconfortable. The inside doesnt look clean or pleasent to dark, tables to small on top of eachother and the ladies toilet was really bad. We only went for the seafood plater.

Update: 9th October 2024. Well what can I say…. Disappointed. Our family have been coming to The Sloop Inn for over 20 years. And I feel that I need to update my review. It used to be a lovely place to eat. Came here this year, for lunch, both in May & today ( 9th October 2024) both times 1 meal must have been forgotten, 2 of us were nearly finished eating my the time the 3rd dish came out. The portions are small compared to the cost of the dishes. A large glass of basic pinot was just under £10! It’s a beautiful pub, inside & out, but until the service & food improves ( I’ll keep an eye on reviews) We’ll give this pub a miss. Does the management read the reviews because there are so many bad ones? Do they care? —————————————— Original review 6 years ago. Every time My family & I visit Cornwall we will always try & visit this pub. Great Food, great portions, friendly staff & dog friendly . A great pub with loads of history.

This is a review of the pub only, as I have never stayed here. The Sloop is a St Ives institution. Always busy with tourists and locals due to its amazing location on the harbour front. It’s steeped in history and you can feel that walking into the place. They have seating outside in front of the pub as well as over the road onto the harbour beach, so it’s a brilliant spot for a drink on a sunny day - but it will be busy so be quick to get a space when one presents itself. The Guinness is really good, and they have a few casks on offer (usual stuff that you see across Cornwall - Doombar and Tribute ales). The only thing letting down the Sloop is its ever increasing prices. On my last visit in May 2024 it was £7 for a pint of Guinness. I guess it’s a sign of the times and to be expected given the Sloops location/history/popularity.

Really smart place, amazing location what ever the weather. It's not cheap but nothing is, and it's worth it for the location. Obviously it gets busy Dog friendly as well which is perfect (for us)

It’s the locals choice - get there before 3pm on any sunny day.
