Amazing! Choice of fish, choice of butter or crust, choice of side for fish dishes, also a few other good looking dishes - jealous of the next tables steak! 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 extra sauce, 2 wine spritzers, pint & half +1 coffee = £75 including service Service quick & friendly. Not quite booking only, but booking recommended. Older waiting staff clearly know very well what they're doing, and enjoy their job. We had the chowder starter (a big fat Yes from me) and the muscles starter (even better than the chowder!), both came with a lot of bread. For mains we had lemon sole with coriander lime & chilli butter, dressed salad, and an extra white wine sauce. The butter was mild, but almost perfectly complemented the sole. The side salad was excellently balanced & very nicely dressed. The sauce was amazing. Both fish were cooked perfectly. I had mackerel fillet with cajun butter, a side of duck fat potatoes, and a chimichurri sauce. The cajun/mackerel combo was ❤️, the potatoes tasted super scrumptious, the chimichurri was excellent too. My only possible comment for improvement is that the potatoes could have been crisper, but they were skin on new potatoes so that's difficult. I wish I'd taken a crust or asked for the mackerel battered to give more texture, but that's down to my taste!

Got into this restaurant because we saw the menu outside and everything seemed so good that we abandoned the idea of getting Cornish pasties. The chowder was amazing!!! I'm not a big fan of mussels, don't like the texture, but I didn't have many problems eating every single last drop of this starter. You can have it as a main as well if you choose the large portion, definitely recommend! The monkey fish fillet was also really good and you can choose to have it with mashed potatoes or "crust" .... which I'm not sure of what it really are, lol. For dessert we had a marzipan cake with cherries... Don't remember the name, it comes with ice cream... SO GOOD. The staff was so kind and friendly, amazing service. We had plenty of times before getting our train, ended up staying there for a couple of hours, the chairs were so comfy lol. The waitress was so kind to put our backpacks in a cupboard out of the way also. Really appreciated. We sat around 2pm, there were few small tables available and it was bank holiday Monday, so I would have expected to be busier but they accommodated us with no wait at all.

We dined at The Beach Restaurant twice last week during our holiday in Cornwall. It was the best restaurant we visited! The quality and portions of the food was brilliant, they cater not only for adults looking for a more grown up menu but also for children in order for families to enjoy the restaurant together. Our two children can be quite fussy eaters but ate and enjoyed all of their meals there! The restaurant itself is beautifully presented, clean and bright. The staff are friendly and very pleasant. The setting just on the front of the bay of St Ives is just stunning! The view you have whilst enjoying a meal there is just wonderful. I can personally recommend the seabass. Best seabass I've ever had! The light crispy coating was just delicious! Our children loved the same coating on their chicken strips and keep saying how delicious it was! I can 100% recommend a visit to this wonderful restaurant. Just make sure you book a table in order to avoid disappointment as it is quite popular.

We were excited to try the beach restaurant because we had heard they had good fish, my girlfriend had ordered mussels and I ordered the sea bream special.

The younger waitress seemed quite polite, but unfortunately we were mostly served by an older lady who seemed like she didn’t want to be there from the moment we walked in.

To put a long story short, the mussels hadn’t been de-bearded properly and I’m certain they were spoiled, the mussels had caused the sauce to taste rancid.

She (my girlfriend) told me about the beards and said that the mussels weren’t fresh, as she is foreign she didn’t have to words to explain herself properly to me.

I didn’t know she meant they were in fact rancid and thought the beards weren’t a big enough issue to bother complaining about, so it took until i tried the sauce after she had finished nearly every single mussel before i realised something was not right.

As a courtesy, I politely mentioned this to the waitress at the end of the meal, explicitly stating we were not looking for a free meal, as she had already eaten it.

We were essentially dismissed completely, she said “they’re normally very popular” and I'm sure she went straight to the bin to throw it away without getting the chefs to try the sauce.

Well now we’ve arrived home, not only have we been left with a bad taste in our mouths, but my girlfriend is now throwing up in the bathroom. I hope for everyone’s sake, the chefs check their stock immediately.

I am really disappointed in the way we were treated by the waitress more than anything, I expect to be treated with respect but that’s not how I felt. If i could go back now i would’ve walked out without paying, even though my...

Great food, great customer service

We went to the Beach restaurant for my (already grown up) daughter's birthday. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. Immediately, we were warmly greeted by Emma who very kindly understood that one of us (we were 7 in the group) was still looking for parking and she took our drink orders and some appetisers. We had mackerel pate and mussels to start, both of which were excellent, especially the mackerel pate. Emma also took note that our grandson would probably want his food earlier and she made sure it was ordered straight away. Our grandson ate his huge burger! After we ordered our mains. Emma discreetly held back on serving the mains until our heroic car driver had successfully found parking and was finally with us in the restaurant. At dessert time, Emma also placed a lit birthday candle on one of the desserts for my daughter to blow out ( my daughter did not order her own dessert) and they even played the happy birthday song from the bar area so that we could all sing along. The food was excellent. It is a seafood restaurant. I had the lemon sole which did not disappoint. Chips were lovely and chunky. Others had hake and other sea food. All reported they were very happy. The food was definitely good value for money. We will...
