Trentham Golf Club — Attraction in Stoke-on-Trent

Unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing rounds of golf I have played in a very long time. Course layout was great but the greens were possibly the worst greens I have played on in a very very long time. There were holes all over the greens, lines indented into them and to top it off there was more sand on there than half the bunkers. There was no mention of how bad they were other than there are 3 greens not so good….. turned out they were temp greens which we weren’t told about. To top it off, there were guys working around the greens, absolutely no golf etiquette what so ever. Guys mowing round the greens while we were on them, even guys on the green while we were trying to play the hole which I have never ever seen before!!! Absolute shambles to be fair!! Won’t be going back...

Wonderful course.... some really interesting holes, I thougherly enjoyed the layout, first 9 in a loop around the periphery, the back 9 inside. There really were no two holes alike. The par 3's are all different as are the par 5's, personally I like the run of holes 13 14 and 15, 13 is a great par 4, not long, but a really strong index 2 hole. 14 will rank as one of my favourite par 5's anywhere, downhill dogleg left to right to a well guarded green. 15 is an uphill 175 yard par 3, a real challenge to hit the tiered green. I played Trentham as a visitor with 3 others from Enville on Tuesday, and can only say it was a great experience. Staff and Pro were very welcoming, and the food top quality and very reasonably priced. Course was in excellent condition with great greens. Good test of golf, but at the same time very fair.
