Could have been an amazing venue with such potential had it have been planned and organised and executed properly. There was one queue for everyone (even for the ones who already had tickets). After queuing for an hour the first thing I wanted was a cup of coffee or tea. Only to find out that if you go down to the cafe you have to go back to the end of the queue to get back in again! There are no provisions for any refreshments not even a temporary table with urns. No access to water or the toilets without getting back in the queue. The fancy dress system was a shambles. More like cattle herding. It's a good job everyone was well behaved because the Floral Pavilion crowd control was a joke. When you finally get to the cafe you find that it cost 5p shy of £3 for a latte in a take out cup that is more like half a mug in reality. £2.95 for a piece of toast. You'd need to take out a mortgage if you want/need to have anything more substantial. So we left hungrier and thurstier than when we went in. Desperate for the toilet. There were no warnings that you could only pay by cash to get in either so, some people who had been queuing for over an hour were turned away if they had planned on using a card payment and had no cash on them. We were there when it opened so, not like it was the end of the day or anything, and the tombola had already finished. One of the TVs that was wheeled out just played film trailers until it ran out and was then just left on the desk top screen. The other movie room was in a room flooded with daylight onto the screen so you couldn't see it properly. The easy fix would have been to draw the curtains. No announcements were made for film starts and you were only given one leaflet for the group with the plans of were everything was on it. I can't believe how badly the Floral Pavillion hosted this event. The staff were tired and badly prepared for this and cannot be expected to shoulder the blame as they were only carrying out what they were instructed to do by the management. All in all a massive disappointment...
Read moreSeen many shows here over the years the last one only recently on 14th January 23. Luther Live. The theatre is just a nice size and the seats comfortable. My main complaint is not something I think theatres are willing to change due to the revenue it generates but they need to prevent drinking inside the theatre and exercise better control and security. People are always late coming in as the queues are very long at the bar (employ more staff) and the show has always started and people try to shuffle to their seats with trays of booze thus disturbing the start of the show. Must be infuriating for the artists and just very rude!. Warn people that the doors will be Closing and they wont be let in once the show has started, served or not served. Also need to make sure the audience are behaving. A fight broke out in the row in front at the Luther concert. Two women, one of whom was obviously drunk. Glad it was during the very last song of the evening as it didn't disturb me too much but not a great way to end the evening. Security did intervene but honestly get a grip girls! Too many groups of drunken people (mainly middle aged women unfortunately (and I'm a middle aged women!) I'm convinced they all get tanked up at the weatherspoons before the performance and then top up at the theatre bar for good measure. Talking all the way through, shouting out and constantly filming with their phones. It was so bad at a Whitney Houston tribute night I went to that many people complained after the performance, including myself, and was refunded the full price of 3 tickets. Such a shame as its a lovely theatre, and they attract great shows and artists but it's...
Read moreFloral Pavilion is such a gem! It brings in some exceptional talent and selection of shows that keeps me going back again and again. It is local to me which is convenient but also I'm lucky it is as the shows available here are great where as some venues can be difficult to get to and it makes the whole thing a big ordeal which is off putting , where as here it's ideal I can just see what's on and pop along as and when..though it is very popular so tickets do usually sell out quickly. I have been many times over the years ,with my son seeing pantomimes and also with my partner seeing comedians and musicians. The Floral gives even the big theatres a run for its money and is equal to them. It is quite dated decor inside and could do with some refurbishment however it's very pleasant inside, always clean and the staff are welcoming , with it being smaller than some other venues it's much more relaxed so if you have anxiety about going out, here is the ideal location there is less people and also has great access for disabilities and wheelchair users with the parking being right outside. The venue is on the coastline so if you are not local I recommend making the day of it , weather permitting, on a sunny day it is very pleasant to walk on the beach here. Overall, it's a great venue that I have used many times over and have tickets for upcoming shows. It is also used to host other events and is a key feature in New Brighton it is definitely a hub of the community for entertainment...
