We have visited this café many times and we keep coming back. They have a simple menu but the food is nice and the atmosphere is friendly. There's nothing fancy about this place. This cafe looks out on the promenade at New Brighton and the local history features in the interior decoration. I think that some of the seats are actually refurbished from an old Mersey ferry.
The menu is reasonably priced with a good selection. They do a lovely roast on Sundays but go early to avoid disappointment. Their full english is very nice but they really excel with battered fish and chips. There is a good selection of desert options too. Orders are placed and paid for at the counter then the food is served with a smile at the table. Each table has a number so try to remember your table number. This is helpful for the staff.
Children are welcome and high chairs are available on request. The toilet facilities are good. Car parking on the street is free and usually easy but during busy holiday periods this might be a problem.
To sum up; Nice cafe food with reasonable prices in clean surroundings.
Please note - the photos were taken just before Halloween so the interior photos show cobwebs, witches hats, broomsticks and skeletons etc.. The staff obviously don't leave it like this...
Read moreI see a lot of people here, especially in good weather as there aren't many places to sit outside, I ordered a latte and a plate of chips, under a fiver for both, so was very happy with the price, the latte was made from powdered coffee and hot milk, not a great start! I sat down outside and waited for my chips, they were quite busy, so expected to have wait for a while, just because I only ordered chips, I did not expect to get served before people who had been waiting longer. Eventually my chips arrived, they were piping hot and looking a little odd, upon closer inspection, these were not good, they were frozen oven style chips that had been deep fried, considering that there are two excellent chip shops just a few minutes walk away, you would think that they serve something better than cardboard chips! Thankfully there was some ketchup on the table to make them more palatable, the ketchup was Aldi's own, still in the Aldi bottle, no attempt to disguise the fact it was cheap, but it dis it's job. The location is great, the staff were very polite and friendly, so no complaints there. I am sure I'm not the only one who has been disappointed with the quality of the food they serve, this could be a great place to visit in future, they just need to...
