As a geography teacher, I have a deep appreciation for thoughtful planning and harmonious integration with the surrounding environment. Unfortunately, my recent stay at The New Brighton Hotel was a masterclass in how not to approach such principles.||The location itself seems confused—a disjointed patch of urban sprawl that pays no respect to the natural geography of the area. Situated in what can only be described as a logistical black hole, the hotel is neither conveniently accessible nor charmingly secluded. Instead, it occupies a spot that leaves one wondering, "Why here of all places?"||Once inside, the layout defies logical navigation. Corridors wind aimlessly, creating a disorienting maze that would bewilder even the most seasoned cartographer. The lack of clear signage adds to the chaos, making the hotel feel like a challenge course rather than a place of relaxation.||The outdoor space, which could have been an opportunity to embrace the local environment, is instead a mishmash of uninspired landscaping. It's as if the designers simply threw a few shrubs and patches of grass together without considering the ecological context or aesthetic appeal.||Even the interior fails to provide any sense of geographical coherence. The decor clashes wildly, with no unifying theme or acknowledgment of the hotel's surroundings. The result is a disjointed experience that feels more like an afterthought than a well-considered design.||While the staff tried their best to be accommodating, the overall experience left much to be desired. The New Brighton Hotel could benefit from a serious rethinking of its integration with both its local geography and guest expectations.||In summary, The New Brighton Hotel is a reminder that good geography—and good planning—can make or break a hospitality experience. Unfortunately, in this case, it leans heavily toward the latter. As a geography enthusiast, I can't recommend this hotel to anyone who values thoughtfulness in design and location.||Rushton Fox Geography Teacher and...
Read moreWe had our wedding reception here on 18th October 2025. What can I say? From the moment we made our enquiry as to availability until we left the hotel the morning after our wedding, we were treated like VIPs!! Kylie, who was our contact for the event, couldn't do enough for us. She and the team decorated the venue to our exact specification. It looked absolutely beautiful. We booked the Grand Buffet for our guests. Wow! the food was absolutely delicious and as well as some old favourites, there was some unique dishes that went down spectacularly! All of our guests commented on the food and how amazing it was. Every time a dish was getting low, the staff replenished it. There certainly wasn't any shortage. Two of our guests, in particular, who are vegan were presented at their table with a mouth-watering selection of food. All of the staff were welcoming, friendly and very professional in their duties. As the evening went on we had the NB DJ. They supplied singing, music and karaoke. We couldn't have asked for more. We stayed the night and were surprised with a lovely basket of chocolates and wine - a very thoughtful and unexpected gift. The room was comfortable and had a nice view of the river. The next morning. again the staff were exceptional. What a fantastic breakfast too. So much so we booked in for Sunday lunch ! Thank you so much to Ray, Kylie and all of the staff for making our day so special. Chris...
