This may be a wonderful place to purchase items for special occasions, but it is not a likable place to consider selling Diamonds to.
I am a collector of fancy colored diamonds to possibly custom design jewelry for my special lady, daughter or granddaughter one day. I have collected diamonds for many years, and have had a few larger stones certified my EGL & GIA. Until recently, I had not found any local store/s that offer what I am looking for in diamonds. Yesterday, I asked for Floyd & Green's purchase consideration of a collection of fancy colored diamonds. The clerk wanted to know how they came into my possession (inheritance, purchased, etc), and explained to me that there was a capped amount they would pay. I was given the choice of (1) leaving the items with them, or (2) taking them somewhere else for appraisal and a quote......if I thought their cap was not enough.
Floyd & Green's appraiser was not readily available to consider the collection, so I left my stones and received a receipt stating that it would take a week for them to complete the appraisal. This did not set well with me overnight, so I returned the next morning (today) and requested the return of my items.
An appraisal (to determine if the items were worthy of being purchased) had not been completed, and there was no resistance in returning the items. As I was receiving my items, the clerk began stating the total count of the stones in my collection. This let me know that someone viewed the stones..... counted them,.....and possibly checked them for quality. There were 48 stones in this collection (43 of one size and 5 of another larger size). I received 47, and a few of the larger stones do not appear to be the same stones that I left with Floyd & Green overnight.
I believe that I received lower quality "questionable" replacements.........and believe that my best stones (in cut, clarity and color) were taken away during this transaction. Had I waited the full week, who knows what would have happened to the entire collection?
I am so disappointed. My family truly enjoys Floyd & Green, and recommended that I let them look at my collection, because they offer appraisal services, and buy diamonds. This was my first experience with them, other than window shopping for a purchase.......trying to find what I was looking for. This is so disturbing, that I find it necessary to write a review. I am almost ashamed to tell my family,..... that Floyd & Green may have deceptive practices. They have been a leading jeweler in Aiken for as long as I can remember. It bothers me tremendously to think that in 2016, they are stooping to such lows.
Maybe someday, a customer of Floyd & Green will enjoy the fancy colored diamonds that I lost with them today. Maybe someday, someone may enjoy my stones in a piece of custom jewelry from Floyd & Green that I have only dreamed of designing for my...
Read moreHad a ring sized down this week, and although the work done was good, I have to say the service was not so great. When I was quoted a price of $120 to size a ring down 1.25 sizes, I was quite shocked. I then asked about getting the gold back that they take out since they were charging so much to size it. I was then told no gold is removed; it is shrunk down with lasers. Of course I did not believe her because this isn't Star Trek, and you can't size a ring down without removing gold. It became clear I was being lied to in order to keep the scrap gold. I will never return to the store, nor will I recommend them to anyone. $120 is A LOT of money to size a ring DOWN since they aren't actually adding any gold to it. They kept my gold and over charged me. Windsor shall get all of my business from now on.
UPDATE: 9/24/15- I received a call today from the owner of the establishment who happens to check Google, every now and then. After seeing this review, he addressed his employees at their staff meeting to re-educate them on the process for sizing. He also offered me a very, very sincere apology, and explained their entire ring sizing process. I have to say, I have never been contacted by an owner this far out from posting with such an honest approach to rectify an unhappy customer. Thank you for restoring my faith in...
Read moreI cannot recommend this place enough, I went in here a little skeptical after having a horrible experience at Jared's but, all my fears were wiped away instantly. From the moment you walk in no matter how busy they are you are met with a warm greeting and friendly smiles. I was searching for a engagement ring and was helped by Ms. Heidi. I knew nothing about the process and she took the time to explain everything in a way that was informative and easy to understand for me who has no idea about diamonds and settings. She is very skilled and knowledgeable about everything. It really shows that she is passionate about what she does. I didn't see exactly what I had in mind in the store so she custom designed exactly what I was looking for and it turned out greater than I ever expected. Over the process she kept me updated on the the ring. I stopped by many times during this process and even when Ms. Heidi was with someone the rest of the staff was attentive and offered to help me or get me a drink or a snack while I waited for her. I don't often take the time to write reviews however the phenomenal service that Floyd & Green provides it would be a disservice not to commend. I appreciate their devotion to customer service and I will be back anytime I am looking for jewelry in the future. I hope you all have a...
