Howard Johnson by Wyndham Aiken — Hotel in Aiken County

No hot water.....the owner wouldn't go into my room with me or my cat I paid almost 50 bucks a night for. Made a reservation for $60 a night and then got there and it was over $100 a day. I told the receptionist that I was leaving a domestic situation and so I had a ton of stuff in my hotel room and I was in between my apartment and my storage unit and didn't feel comfortable with all my stuff in the room and having someone come in while I'm not there when I could have just sat on the bed with my cat in a kennel and it wouldn't have been an issue. Instead I dealt with three days of no hot water, the staff told me that that room always has issues with water, I literally spent almost $400 and couldn't even take a hot shower. My job is not to work around a hotel I asked for another room and saw that there were several empty and they made no attempt to get me into another room. The drugs and the people that they allow to come onto their property that don't even have have a hotel room is ridiculous. Thank God for the girl that works there who is just trying to get back on her feet but they charged her I miss $400 a week to live there and make her work there. That's 1600 dollars a month and that's illegal. No one suggested that I sign up for Rewards except for the cleaning girl and because of that stuff I literally had to come back to Atlanta to get myself situated because they decide who they want to give long-term rentals to and who they don't want to. The owner didn't believe me and I wasn't working on his time schedule as I was trying to get out of a apartment where someone was being very violent and there was no way that I had the time nor the energy to work around his time. I just hope he doesn't have a daughter and that she's never in this situation that I was in but for your blow dryer not to work and no hot water and I'm paying over $100 and something dollars a day and the only reason I'm not getting out of there is because I'm in a situation where I can't and you're just going to sit there and act like it's no big deal. I came over there crying my eyes out asking for the cheapest situation that she could put me in or give me an idea of where I could go because the prices that they want to do online and then when you get there or two different things. If somebody would have told me that all I had to do was sign up for rewards and I would have gotten an extra day free that would have really helped me out so if you have a chance to stay anywhere else that's what I would do. Otherwise book your stuff online check your s* when you get in there and make sure you lock your doors because you can't even go outside and smoke a cigarette without people approaching you. And they have cameras all over that place. And if for some reason I find out that the girl who works there gets fired are there any repercussions I will definitely be taking you guys to court. You didn't believe me when I told you that the lady at the front told me about the hot water and then you called her on Sunday on her day off thinking I'm lying is ridiculous. I don't know about you but I know that I want to work for people who want the best for me instead of take advantage of me. I'll be back in the next few days and have already put in a complaint with Howard Johnson but you guys need to get your stuff together. I literally didn't even want to come out of the room because some guy was bothering me and I was told that he wasn't allowed on the property but...

Today, we show up at the hotel got our key, enter the room and the head board is visibly broken and the tissue dispenser is hanging by one last nail, yes nail not screw. Called the office and get switched immediately. Next room went in appeared to look ok, however smelled like cigars keep in mind this was a none smoking room. Ok, that we can kinda get over. Next I go to flip the comforter, wool blanket and sheet back and there cigarette butts, aches and what appeared to be dry blood stains ( work in a hospital currently so I know what dry blood looks like on sheets especially when you have tried to do cheat compression in a gun shot victim) so called to the front desk and explain the situation and keep in mind I was very polite and understanding that the hotel was not the Hilton. The front personal became irritable and was not happy with our complaints. We cancelled our reservations and booked at another hotel. We booked online and was allowed to cancel so when I went to turn the key back in after explaining we weren't going to be staying there which he already knew,He stated that he received a call from a representative at Priceline and she explained we canceled our reservations. While saying this he waves a sheet of paper with the word void on it and stated the cancellation was done. I politely asked for a copy for my record and he flat out said no.. You did it online and their responsible for your refund, which I knew and had made arrangements with them regarding my refund.. I just wanted a copy from the hotel just incase that states I did not stay there. Ok well so I left. Keep in mind that this hotel was rated 3 stars well it's not not not I will give it 1 star because it's a building with the word hotel on it and that's the one point only that Howard Johnson in Aiken, SC deserves. Please do not do not book...

Love the location of the hotel. It's so much to do in the Area. The rooms looked ok. It can use some work on the cleaning side. I gave one star for service because of how we were treated. I got asked to leave when I got there and to come directly back at 3 or they would have my vehicle towed. I came back in time and the room still wasn't all the way ready. The management was very rude the whole time I stayed. Stereotype me and my kids because of what we had on. They kept telling me it was no smoking room which we already knew that and I don't even smoke to begin with and told me I will not get my deposit back if I'm in the room smoking made that clear several times. Not to mention the plumbing is really bad you barely can get hot water. They don't listen at the front desk I asked him not to come in my room because I was going to be here several days luckily I put a camera in and they did not listen at all they came in several times even with being told not to come in. Including my last day I asked him again please do not come in my room and I guess she didn't know that I was in here but she came in anyways again. I just wouldn't recommend this hotel for anybody unless you're just coming to sleep and leave. If you're coming for more than one day. If I can give zero Stars I would on...
