I wanted to like this place because the people seemed so nice but I found out I was really ripped off. I bought a beautiful piece from one of the vendors who has a spot in this store. Different vendors sell their goods in the store. I was told by the store employee that the person I was buying from was a seasoned seller, very honest and knew a lot about antiques. I really know nothing about antiques but I loved the statue as it was what I thought was a unique piece. I made an offer and the store employee called the owner / seller of the piece and we negotiated a price. I called the store the next day because I was curious of the origin of the piece. I was told the seller was there and the employee ask the seller about the piece. I was told it was from the Art Deco period and was purchased in Chicago over 15 years ago. That was all this supposedly "seasoned" vendor knew. I decided to google some descriptive words about the piece and to my dismay it quickly popped up on a site for over $200 less than I paid for it. It is mass produced not an antique or from the Art Deco period but a modern piece replica of the Art Deco period, quite different. I called the store and they said they called the vendor and the vendor refused to refund me my money or make any type of compensation for this rip off. I feel dumb for not checking what I could first, so I take that responsibility but a reputable store or vendor would have made this right. I will never shop at this store again. It has left me with a bad feeling when this could have been a great experience buying a new art piece. I suggest you check out everything you buy in this store. I was deceived. Not cool. Especially from a local store.
In response to the owner. While I appreciate you offering to compensate me with $200 of "your" stuff, stuff is not want I was asking for. I ask that the vendor or the store compensate me for selling me a mass produced item that I was told was from the "Art Deco" period but is not. The piece is exactually like the mass produced piece I sent you a picture of and where it could be purchased for $200 less than I paid at your store. You keep saying the vendor "knows his stuff and is reputable" well they did not know about this piece because I even spoke to the company selling the mass produced piece and the one I have is the exact same piece. So I don't need more stuff I bought this because I liked it and thought it was special. So intentional or not I was overcharged by $200 . I would prefer to have my money returned and return the piece but if not at least the $200 of over payment. If you are not willing to do either which seems to be the case because there was not offer at all for compensation until I posted a review then make a donation of $200 to Planned Parenthood or Women's...
Read moreOwner, Katz, is very rude. Saw an item I liked but thought it was a little overpriced. I asked the owner if she could relay a message to the dealer that owns the item with an offer. After I gave her the offer, Mrs Katz responded rudely âI Will Not.â I asked her âwhy not?â She said she didnât like the price I offered. Excuse me but last I checked she is not the owner of the item. If the dealers are wondering why their items are not selling,...
