I avoided this gym for a year for one reason: Brandon. I find his coaching style incredibly off-putting. The tone of voice he uses and the condescending things he says in general and to individuals are enough for me to want to give other people a heads up. Iāve been coming to the Old Town gym for the last month or so, but today will be my last day. Iām heading back to the Pentagon City location where the coaches are incredibly encouraging. I love Orange Theory, and Iām constantly harassing friends to come try it out with me. Sadly, this one just doesnāt make the cut.
Iāve attended classes all around the DMV as well as other states, and this one just doesnāt measure up. Besides the coaching, the showers are terrible. They had one under construction for the longest time, but even when theyāre both functioning the shower head is situated so that itās nearly impossible to not get water all over the floor not only in that room, but also in the main waiting area. It leaks under the floor and is embarrassing for the person showering and annoying for the front desk workers. Oh, and they donāt have any shampoo or conditioner like all the other OTF gyms.
So, my recommendation is to find literally any other OTF gym and avoid Brandon at all costs....

The classes are always really crowded also so you need to get there early if you want to change in their bathroom/changing room (which they only have 2) If you have a unpredictable job as I do (I'm a registered nurse) and you want to cancel last minute you lose your class. After losing multiple classes I decided to cancel my membership. The studio lost my cancellation form and then continued to bill me. I reached out to them via phone, text, and email without any resolution. They only wanted me to continue coming and promised they'd work with my schedule even though that's what they promised me when I initially signed up. The only way I received a response back was when I stopped payment with my bank. If you have a set schedule and never want to cancel your membership this may be the right place for you, otherwise...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI dont often leave reviews, but for Orangetheory Fitness Old Town, I will make an exception. Why? Easy:1. Staff: From day 1 you are welcomed, known, made to feel at "home," and before you know it, you feel part of the Orangetheory Fitness family/tribe. 2. Coaches: EVERY coach is personable, fun, and is there to push you to reach your goals. They will share a laugh, and in the next breath push you to work harder. They care about YOU as a person, and it shows in the passion they have for coaching. 3. Environment: The entire setup is well engineered: the space, the lighting, the music, and the machines. Makes it easy to perform and feel comfortable. 4. Workouts: The entire team at OTF does a great job of creating intentional, adaptable, and effective workout programs. I have never left not feeling like I had a great workout or had a great use of my time/energy. As long as I am in the Alexandria area, this gym - with this Management, Front Office, and Coaching Staff - will be...
