When they moved into the city we lived in, over ten years ago, I fell in love with Market Street immediately. Since then, I've shopped at other locations local to my new home city. ALL of the locations are an absolute pleasure to shop at!
Walking in to Market Street feels like having a giant pantry separated from your house - yet still, nice and homey feeling. It definitely has a pleasant small town vibe to it.
The produce is excellent! The butcher section has much better quality meats than our other local options. Brand selections are similar to other grocery stores, with many options you typically don't see elsewhere added to the mix. I feel like I'd do an Injustice trying to describe how delicious the items made in the bakery are... And the"Bulk" aisle, I love it!
Anyways, prices are high on everything except meat. Unless you can catch a good sale. So, they lose a point for that. My wife and I typically buy our meat here and grocery shop elsewhere, because of the prices. However, the meat and experience is well worth the trip past a few other grocery stores along the way. We often find a need for some of their groceries that can't be bought anywhere else locally as well.
I guess you could say if you like a clean, small home town feeling place to shop - Market Street is for you.
If you don't mind paying a slight premium for a very pleasant shopping experience - Market Street is for you.
*BONUS Aside from employees taking groceries to cars, Market Street keeps all carts out of the parking lots at all times. No...
Read moreI went here to buy a beef rib roast for Christmas since they had a sale, and I have bought roasts here in past years and they were good. I wanted a whole one since I have 20 people coming over. Ad showed a coupon special with a limit of one. They only had 3 to 5 lb roasts, which weren't large enough. I was going to leave and go to Kroger, but the butcher told me I could "buy all the roasts I wanted but only only one would be $1/lb off per the coupon". So I got several small roasts to get the quantity I needed for my hungry guests, and I spent another hour getting other stuff. The checkout lane was super slow and I waited patiently thru several delays. When they were finally ringing me up, the store manager came over and said I could buy only one roast. I told him what the butcher said, why I needed more than one, and that I had spent 2 hours there shopping and waiting, but he said there was nothing he could do. He wasn't the least bit sympathetic. So, I told them to keep ALL the stuff and that I was never coming back, and I walked out. They lost me as a customer. Then, I went to Kroger and spent my money there instead like I should have done in the first place. They had a limit of one roast also, but the butcher wrapped two large beautiful roasts together for me so I could get what I needed. That's great customer service, Market...
Read moreEven though this store is only about two minutes from my house, I try and avoid it. I was excited for a Market Street when I moved to this area, but it's just not a great grocery store. They always seem to be out of what I need and the produce is just okay. My biggest pet peeve is that NO ONE is very nice that works there. I mean, NO ONE! I guess they must all hate their jobs, because they all seem terribly unhappy. I gave up smiling and greeting anyone when I'm there. You never get anything back in return. I mostly go to Tom Thumb. It's more consistent and the employees are very nice. Update on my Market Street review: I feel like maybe they might have read my review, because it seems like everyone is really nice now and greets me with a smile. A little customer service goes a long, long way, in my opinion. Since they've remodeled, it seems like their shelves are better stocked and the produce has gotten way better. Also, their prepared food section is nice for quick, easy meals. Thanks Market Street, for turning my opinion around! I go there a lot...
