Finding good sushi in DFW is difficult, and visiting here didn't help. My wife, son, and I love sushi and thought we'd try it out. We went during the middle of the week at the noon hour and were seated immediately as most tables were open (this isn't necessarily always a good thing). From there, things went sour.
After our server asked if we'd been there before (and us saying no), she insulted us twice. Once, by asking if we knew what sushi was (my thought: Hello! You specialize in sushi! our response: yes we do, in fact it's his (pointing at our 12 year old son) favorite way to each fish. A moment later she asked if we knew what a bento box was (our response was yes, but we were thinking: we just explained we know what sushi is, so there's a good chance you're just not paying attention).
She explained the lunch special which is ridiculous because you have to order a drink to get it (thinking: I like water so I can taste my food and so I don't feel bloated, thanks). Upon asking if they do substitutes on their main dishes, she said no (thinking: do you want us to come back?). She took our request for water and brought back a plastic cup for our 12 year old (thinking: come on, yes he's small for his age, but he's 12!). We explained we needed a moment more.
We watched her take care of tables filling up around us, including taking their orders, for about 7 or 8 insulting minutes. Mind you, we've said nothing negative at this point (although we've thought plenty). So we got up and left.
Considering the pricing was over the top and combined with a nasty start, we cannot recommend this place or feel...
Read moreJust had dinner at this place. After my dinner, a white man claiming he was the owner said that his wallet came up missing. He was sitting next to me a black man. He placed his hand on the bar where we were sitting. Then told the manager his wallet was right next to me and now it's missing. He had the manager review the video, but of course there was nothing there. Because I didn't take his wallet. After a few minutes of the white man telling people that his wallet was taken. He asked the manager to ask me to stand up, to see if his wallet was under my bar stool. I asked the manager how could his wallet go from on top of the bar to under my stool. This was very embarrassing. At this point most people in the crowded restaurant were looking to see if I had taken a wallet that wasn't mine. After I paid my bill and was leaving, he the white owner asked what was my name. After I refused, he stated I'm the owner. I can get your name even if you don't give it to me. I'm sure he could get my name, I paid by card. At this point he's in my face, were nose to nose. I'm sure he wanted me to get physical, so he could be the victim. Even after I stood up and let look under my stool. Nobody apologized for this embarrassing incident. At this point the whole restaurant is looking on. I told the owner I didn't have his wallet. He stated your sure defensive for someone that didn't do anything. To make it even more embarrassing I was on a date night with my girlfriend. She had been wanting to go there for a while. Needless to say this black man won't be going back to this racist place. I will post this on as many sites...
Read more(2022 Update) Wow!!! The prices are incredibly high now. We haven't been yet this year because they stopped offering Mackerel sushi and it's my husband's favorite. The prices look like when you are looking at a delivery app and the prices are marked up. I'm so disappointed because I need to see some added value to make the price hike make sense. You know, service, portions, taste, or something. Yes, they still have the best Ahi Tower but, I don't see myself going back any time soon.
I've been going to The Blue Fish In Watters Creek for several years now and loved it. The food and service quality of this location doesn't disappoint. 👏🏽
This restaurant on Stacy Rd almost across from the outlets is.much more convenient. We're gone there for lunch 5 or 6 times since Covid-19 and feel confident in their modified processes for safety. Dinner has been enjoyable as well. I have to say that the ambiance is different here than Watters Creek. Buuut, the food is consistently good here and it's been easier to get a seat here without waiting.
It depends on your goal. 💯
You should know that you need to wear a mask to enter the restaurant and you won't be seated until you have your temperature taken. When you leave your table to walk among other patrons they have asked that you wear your mask.
The Blue Fish Tower (formerly, the Ahi Tower) is forever my favorite. Even though the price has gone up and the size is shrinking, it still provides the perfect bite. It's worth trying and deciding...
