I don't normally write reviews. But honestly I was very disappointed going here.
My Husband and I saw a local authentic English pub near us and were very excited to try it, as I am someone who grew up in the UK and my husband spent 10 years living there so seeing this place we definitely wanted to try it
When we first came in we had a lot of hope, got a table instantly and the server came to us straight away. There was a band playing inside and we really liked the atmosphere and the amazing location of the Pub. But that's honestly where it ends.
We ordered a lemonade, a Stella, the sampler, the buffalo chicken and the fish and chips. When ordering the server seemed frazzled, when my husband asked for a stella he asked if it was draft only or if it came in bottles too, she seemed confused so my husband just asked for it on draft and in a pint glass only for her to then explain to him what a draft was? which was a strange response. When ordering the Buffalo chicken, on the menu it only said it came in a sandwich, but because i didn't want that much bread we asked if we could have it in a wrap instead, the server started asking us if we wanted in paper or lettuce? I thought its common knowledge that when someone asks for something in a wrap they want it in a tortilla? any other restaurant does this? The server then said that she will see if they can do that but there might be an upcharge and she will come back to tell us if that's the case, the server then asked what kind of fries we wanted with our fish and chips and buffalo chicken wrap, we asked the server what fries they offered and ended up getting getting curly fries and waffle fries.
We got our food before we got our silverware, and our food took a while to get when the pub was relatively empty. The buffalo chicken wrap was really good, but the fish and chips were vile, the batter was soggy and tasted like crunchy oil, and the fish itself was so rubbery it was practically inedible.
At this point we were pretty dissatisfied but thought this is just a fluke and were considering coming again in the future because the atmosphere and location was nice.
Until the bill came... As expected there was an upcharge for the tortilla, okay I was expecting that but she never came back to tell me, but both the buffalo chicken and the fish and chips were more expensive than they were on the menu, when i asked the server why, she stated its because we got different fries, now on the menu it says that both dishes come with the signature fries but nowhere does it say on the menu that if you get different fries its an upcharge. There is one section on the menus under the burgers that says if you ask for cheese, bacon and chili, its an upcharge but nothing about changing fries, and at no point did the server ever tell us that there was an upcharge. She started insisting that is it on the menu when it isn't and then pointed to the burger section where is says all burgers coming with signature fries and the the upcharge for it you want cheese, bacon and chili. Again that has nothing to do with subbing fries and has nothing to do with the fish and chips that were in a different section which didn't mention any upcharges what so ever. Pretty sure legally they have to state things like that on the menu.
We were so sick of being there at that point we just wanted to go home so we just paid and left to be done with it.
Honestly should have read some of the more recent reviews before coming here
Definitely wont be coming again, as I don't want any hidden upcharges that were never stated beforehand, that prime location is wasted...
Read moreMy family came in on a Saturday night to celebrate my graduation. We wanted to go for the live music, which was really good!
Unfortunately the waitresses (Marla) service was trash and ruined the whole experience. We arrived and were given menus and no one came back to take our order. I had to hunt the sever down 15 min later. My sister came in a few minutes after we ordered. The server just dropped our drinks and food off.. but never got her or her kids drink order, food order, or acknowledged she would needed service. I had to say, “please don’t leave she needs to order” at least twice. My husband ordered a second beer and she forgot to put in the order..which is fine just be honest. She said they are backed up at the bar… then came to confront us with the wrong beer and stated, “the bar and me are two different people”… I believe she thought we went to order a drink at the bar and expected her to bring it to us… which we never did. It was incredibly unprofessional.
My nephew spilled his water on the table. No big deal. We asked another server for towels to help clean it up. She came back with three bar towels and left. No one tried to help. Our actual server came by and didn’t acknowledge the situation or ask if we needed help while we were on our hands and knees trying to clean up. My sister asked for the checks twice. There was tension, it was just awkward and unprofessional in the end. Lack of awareness and lack of caring was the common theme she gave us.
Food was ok, but we really came for the music. We probably wont go back. The service just left such a sour taste...
Read moreLet me start off by saying, that we have been waiting for the Lion & Crown to open for quite a while. Sadly we won't be going back. Ever. Let's start and end with the service. We came in on a Saturday night and this place was not busy. We took a booth and proceeded to wait 15 minutes for someone to come and ask us for our drink order. I ordered a Vodka Soda and the wife ordered an IPA on tap. 15 minutes later some other person brought our drinks and asked if I would like salt with my vodka..... Um. Huh??? My wife's beer was fairly not cold (and it was cold outside even when we visited). Fast forward to an hour later. We had long finished our drinks and long were over trying to get someone to pay attention to us enough to order another round. I have never, ever, EVER walked (or thought about) out of a bar and not paid my tab, but I was this close to doing it. We finally asked for a manager from yet another person who was running around, to which we were rudely asked why we would want to talk to said manager (apparently this was owners daughter and the manager was the owner. Sad day.) The "manager" walked up while we were trying to explain why we were not very happy. He listened to us while tapping his pen and didn't really seem to care. Then gave us a half baked apology and told us our two drinks were taken care of. Thanks. This place had promise, but good service (and in this case BAD service) starts from the top down and can make or break a bar/restaurant in this town....
