I came across Islam a few years back but I never got the opportunity to visit a mosque before IIOC, but as a revert it was the best first experience I could’ve had in a mosque due to all the programs and events that IIOC hosts. My favorite it’s the “New Muslin Program” , I visit the classes every Sunday for the new muslins every week for like a month and finally made the decision to revert and SubHanAllah I was able to take my Shahada there together with other 3 persons that also revert with me and as of today we are 1 month and 19 days being Muslim Alhamdulillah!. IIOC has helped me not only with my getting closer to Allah hunger but also in other aspects of my life, like mental wellbeing and over all we are one big family especially for the younger ones they offer lost of programs for them too like summer school and they try to offer day care as much as they can so you can go to your onsite classes and they also have a shaded playground in the back. Teens are also encouraged to go they do a lot of events for them as well specially during summer. IIOC is my favorite mosque I drive from La puente to go to the events they host during the week as they are really about family and keeping the community together specially bringing in new people and showing them the mercy of Allah The most merciful landing a hand to our brothers and sisters specially from other religions that are curious about Islam. They also have social media accounts where they post about the upcoming events so you can...
Read moreI began my journey to Islam with the Sunday classes at IIOC, and from the very first day I felt a sense of peace and belonging. The environment is always welcoming, filled with kindness and sincerity. Every time I walk through the doors, I am greeted with a smile, and it truly feels like being part of a family.
Brother Jamaal has been an essential part of my experience at IIOC. He is always available, willing to listen, and eager to help. On many occasions, he has guided my family and me toward programs and resources offered at IIOC that have supported us during times of adversity. His sincerity and dedication are a reflection of the values that make IIOC such a special place.
As a Mexican, I feel deeply grateful for the openness and inclusivity I have experienced here. Embracing Islam was not just a decision but a journey, and IIOC has played a vital role in making that journey meaningful and fulfilling. The community has helped me understand that Islam is not only about faith but also about compassion, service, and unity.
My conversion to Islam has been one of the most important steps in my life, and IIOC has been a guiding light throughout this process. The knowledge I have gained, the friendships I have built, and the unwavering support I have received continue to strengthen me in my faith every day. For that reason, I will always hold IIOC close to my heart and remain thankful for the opportunity to be part of such a loving and...
Read moreMy journey into Islam started three years ago. I needed to make major changes in my life in order to work on myself and improve in the areas I struggled for most of my life. Luckily Allah brought me into Islam two weeks before my first Ramadan. I had been using marijuana and cigarettes for over twenty years to cope with anxiety. It had been taking a very bad toll on my mind. Praying the Islamic way and listening to recitations of the Quran instantly took away my anxiety. I started my journey after doing my Shahada at the mosque with brother Jamaal quitting all substances seen as haram in the eyes of Islam cold Turkey. Ramadan and the practice of fasting for a month solidified my healing and the journey I was on. I was able to appreciate even the smallest things in and around my life.
Fast forward to now this current moment. I married a woman whom is also Muslim through a forum called Half Our Deen. We have an eight month old son together. I couldn’t imagine my life any other way, Alhamdulillah.
Lastly I wanted to mention in the beginning brother Jamaal encouraged me to start with a mentor in the new Muslim program. My mentor Brother Mohammad was a crucial integral part of my process along with the...
