Beach Bums Recreational Rentals & Gift Shop — Attraction in Anna Maria island

This place is a cute little place and great for rentals. My kids were driving me crazy and it truly helped that the employees were super nice and helpful. We rented a Surry bike ( me and my 3 kids ages 7,8&11). The pedal came off 25 minutes into the ride. My son put it back on and it fell off again. We still finished our trip and then brought the bike back. We could have brought the bike backsooner, but I knew they were Closing at 5 ( and was to lazy to do so plus it made a fun memory) so we just laughed and still enjoyed the ride. We pulled up in the back where they were putting new bike's together and I let the gentlemen know what happened. He was awesome and told me he could fix it real quick and let is go back out. I told him " no we only had 5 minutes left" he offered to fix it and still let us go back out again. I told him " no we had a blast and could have brought it back sooner but we still had fun!" I thought that was very sweet! This place is awesome and great customer service!!! I live in Orlando but go to the gulf every other weekend since my son lives there. I also do a lot of Google reviews because I travel a lot for fun with my 5 kids and friends. I usually give fair ratings and only give 5 stars to places that are perfect! The Surry bike we rented was $20 for an hour ( for our needs)and the staff was super amazing and friendly! I do plan on going back to check out more rentals in the future. Just spent a beautiful week with our family of eleven at our favorite place on the planet, Anna Maria. We have always rented all of our bikes and gulf carts from beach hums, and this year was no different. As we have been incredibly loyal, returning to beach bums, since 2009.

After this rental, we can officially say, we are finished, and will not return. The service and quality provided was unacceptable.

As soon as I noticed something was not right, with the gulf cart, I contacted Chris. The cart would not steer, and was so difficult to maneuver. He assured me this was normal and they had nothing to replace it with, to make it right. I choose to trust him and give it my best at making it work.

At the end of the week, I called to express the reality of what a week we had endured with the cart. He was completely closed to any kind of working with us, to compensate or make any amends.

Our week was SO rough and difficult to maneuver with every turn, making a drive on the cart something NOT to look forward to. In fact, there were moments we choose not to drive it, and just drive our car.

Calling him to see about getting some kind of compensation, or what they could do. He gave zero compassion or apologizes in our time of need, and told me this is just the way they all run. Simply, I know better enough to move right ahead into something better.

As for me and my family, we will be taking our business where a ride is like a walk...

The staff at Beach Bums was AWESOME! The gal helping us with purchasing our bike and paddle board rentals was very helpful, friendly, professional and yet made us feel like we were friends. I had a bad fall off my bike (totally my fault), bent the handlebars and messed my face up. Chris came out right a way and picked me up with my bike, drove me home and replaced my bike. A few days later we rode back to Beach Bums to get an adjustment on another one of our bikes and were quickly greeted by Chris who asked how I was doing and then quickly made the adjustment. Taylor dropped off our bikes at our condo and was very informative about things to do on the island and directions thereto. Everyone we encountered here were very nice, helpful and hospitable. Great prices too and very accomodating with our delivery and pick ups too! We started out trying to rent bikes from a surf shop near our condo, but the girl working there rolled her eyes when we ask questions she did not know the answers to and not at all helpful. We're sooo glad we left and went to Beach Bums. Beach Bums made our trip so enjoyable. Great bikes too!
