Our older Casablanca Zephyr fan's "Vari-quiet" circuit board failed, and the variable speed control would not stay on a consistent setting. The equivalent variable speed replacement unit is long out of production. After sharing our model number with helpful and responsive FAN MAN LIGHTING customer support, we ordered a compatible "P-V23" 3-speed conversion kit. Kit and shipping were well-priced and arrived a few days later. Although no instructions were provided, the circuit board and connector swap was intuitive and pretty straightforward, with no new wiring needed. I'm sure the company would provide great tech support if needed. In our case, we first disconnected power at the breaker, and removed the bottom dome cover with two screws to access the board and connections. We just needed to disconnect the two "Reverse" and "Motor" nylon connectors from the old board using a small flathead screwdriver to release the plastic latch (both old and new boards have these two connectors clearly labeled). Popped the old circuit board off held in place by four nylon pins. Removed and discarded the old on-off pull chain and wire, held by a knurled threaded nut. Left the existing fan reverse toggle switch and connector in place as it will be used for the new board. Then snapped the two reverse and motor connectors onto the new board where labeled. Secured the new pull chain to the housing with a provided nut. We opted to leave the several unused connectors and the now-useless variable speed knob in the housing, which made compartment real estate a little tight. To free up space, we removed the four nylon board mount pins from the upper housing, and tucked the new board in place--the back of the board has a plastic protective film in place to prevent short-circuiting. Put the outer protective cardboard cover back in and reattached the metal cover plate. Turned breaker back on, and using single pull chain, fan now has 3 speeds (Hi/Med/Low) and off. Reverse works fine. Kit did provide an additional two-wire pull chain switch, presumably for lighting, which we didn't have or need. Very happy with this great vendor and glad to have our quiet old Casablanca reliably...
Read moreLast week our Casablanca Panama II Ceiling Fan just stopped working while on. Since Casablanca was bought out by Hunter Fans years earlier we had limited support here in Southern California.
After doing some research online, I discovered Fan Man Lighting in Minnesota. I called and spoke with a representative describing the symptoms of the fan stopping and when the Inteli- Switch was depressed the blades moved an inch then stopped abruptly.
I was advised that the circuit board had apparently failed after over 25 years. Since the circuit boards are virtually nonexistent, Fan Man Lighting has begun manufacturing their own however, a replacement switch had to also be installed to operate the new circuit board. I placed an order at the recommendation of the representative and both parts were were shipped. I received the replacement circuit board and switch within five days. A QR code located in the instruction sheet, which was very clear linked to a video on how to install which took less than 45 minutes.
Once installed, I still had the same issue. I called Fan Man Lighting for further assistance. The family business owner Jason offered to FaceTime me to watch what was happening with the fan. He immediately noticed that the fan flywheel was too low and had apparently dropped which impaired the fan blade rotation.
Jason spent 35 minutes with me on FaceTime walking me through how to raise the flywheel and then tighten in against the shaft flat indent with a 3mm Allen Wrench. Successful operation was achieved! Jason stated I could certainly return the parts via UPS in the provided box for a full refund.
My wife and I are so grateful for the assistance from Jason and his employees Jack, technical support and Alex, in sales.
Though it took time to receive the parts, enabling further diagnosis and eliminate other issues, ultimately the Fan Man Lighting owner Jason took the time at no cost to us to be sure we satisfied with a working gem of a Casablanca Ceiling Fan.
We highly recommend this business for any ceiling fan repairs or replacements nationwide. It’s great to know that they have the parts, knowledge, experience, and professionalism to service...
Read moreI cannot recommend Fan Man Lighting highly enough! We have an 18 year old Casablanca Panama fan and it suddenly stopped working. When we turned the lights switch on, we heard a click but neither the fan nor the lights would turn on. We did some research and suspected we might need a new circuit board and were prepared to consider that but Beth and Chris at the office were very kind and helpful and suggested I talk to the owner, Jason. He returned my call on a Saturday and when I described the symptoms to him, he told me that if we were hearing a click, the motor was in fact receiving a signal and the fan was learning mode. He stayed on the phone with me while he advised me to turn the light switch off, wait a few seconds and then simultaneously press the power up and power down buttons on the remote for at least five seconds. I turned on the fan as instructed and everything worked perfectly once again! We are in Seattle, but I will if ever we need a fan (they sell new fans) or parts, Fan Man Lighting will be our choice! They exceeded out expectations in every way and were wonderful to work with, as they were when we purchased a remote from them a few years ago. They are a model of what true customer service...
