Wow I’m impressed at the freshness of the food. This food reminds me of specialty outdoor grill food that I have had the pleasure of eating out distant festivals in the DFW area. All that’s missing is the picnic table and your fork and knife and you’re ready to go! I ordered the traditional flavored grilled rainbow trout with olive oil and salt and pepper seasoning. Near perfect for me. A few other reviewers have complained that their meat/fish was under seasoned, but mine was good. I prefer a simple, light seasoning with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice on top. A small CAVEAT, the fish was a little bit dry, but honestly for me it wasn’t bad enough to affect the taste. I never ever order anything blackened, because the tendency for the meat or fish to burn and dry out at that temperature is too great, and I don’t like spicy so I do not want to have it made “snappy” flavor. The “snappy” flavor is when the meat or fish is made blackened and with Cajun seasoning. Everybody has different tastes, so you just have to order according to your individual taste....Even the salad which they gave me consisted only of all fresh vegetables, & this is head and shoulders above other restaurants. Many other restaurants will try to give you old lettuce at the bottom, but not this restaurant. I went in on a Sunday afternoon, (wasn’t busy at that time) and the girl waited on me was very nice and gave me everything I needed without even my having to ask. I do plan on returning again based on this experience! I truly hope to continue to have a great experience each and every time I visit this restaurant in the future! I was hungry, and this food...
Read moreFirst time there I was pleased with the decor . It could use some dusting . I ordered a dozen oysters they were delicious. I ordered calamari that was such a massive disappointment the calamari was almost paper thin sliced more breading than calamari . I've never had such thinly sliced calamari. I ordered okra the okra was not of thickness , again the breading held it together. I took breading off a couple of them yet couldn't get it with fork it was as if my fork was a razor blade going over a silk scarf.. my husband ordered the jambalaya which was great if you like SUPER SPICY, he also ordered a cup of gumbo , unfortunately I have never in my life ever seen a rue the color or motor oil it was a little alright the rue was just way off. We also ordered crawfish . That was very disappointing because they were to tiny and the meat stuck in there shells so we really didn't get any meat for the price and we only received one small potato and one corn cob should have been two potatoes and two cobs for how many crawfish that was served by the time I took pick we had already ate most....the staff was friendly the beer was cold just a little over priced to be served in a goblet ....oh and something cute a fishnet holds the toilet paper that was cute. On my reviews I'm a stickler for clean restrooms there was a back up in woman's restrooms you couldn't use them I went to counter and told them . I went to men's restroom because he'll I had to pee but there was backed up also . I was glad to see they did take immediate action and this is this first time in one of my reviews that that did care about there restrooms I was happy...
Read moreThird time here; it never disappoints. Counter service was helpful to my two companions since it was their first time. The food was served speedily. There was a mix-up on the order, hey, life happens but they remedied it quickly and began eating.
The catfish we ordered was so hot and fresh that we had to let them cool, even then we had to start off gingerly. The fries were snap-crispy on the outside and mashed-potato soft on the inside, dern near perfection. The hushpuppies had a surprising and pleasant "kick" to them. The portions were ample. In fact, none of us could finish everything.
The inside and decor is appropriately dive-y, kitschy, and feels like a fishing shack.
Here's the real bonus. Most restaurants these days are so interested in maximizing "churn" and floor space than you end up crammed in with little room to manuever. NOT here. I am in a wheel chair with a service dog so the room to move around, even between tables, was noticed and appreciated!
BTW, the food we could not finish, my service dog did...and loved it! In Fact, Max told me to give it 2 paws up and 5 out of 5 tail wags!
Here's a pic of my Malinois finishing what...
