Do not spend money at this theater if the movie you'd like to see is in theater 3. The corporate office is aware there is an issue - the picture quality was terrible, very dark - we immediately asked the staff about it. They said there was nothing in their control to change, that had made a request with corporate to have it fixed and it has not been fixed yet. ALSO, they are not allowed to tell you there is an issue when you buy your tickets - they were told not to say anything by corporate - so CA Theaters just wants to take your money, assume you are a chump, and deliver you a super poor quality service. We went thru the same issue at their Seaside location with poor heat/air....out of staff control, corporate would do nothing - so, we started going to Astoria. Super easy solution - just don't show movies in the the theaters that aren't working properly - don't have them as an option and schedule show times accordingly until the issues are fixed. Staff is super nice, we feel sorry for them. They are obviously willing to be working, letting people back into the moves, but the CA Theater Corporate Office has absolutely no issues taking your money for a broken theater and hoping you don't notice or say anything....headed home to watch...
Read moreThe Astoria Gateway Cinema seems to have a very pleasant crew and technically sophisticated theaters. That's the good news. I have complained to them formally about the lack of public information on when films' run are planned to end. We have been eager to see a couple of recently engaged films only to find that they have moved on after a week here. Due to our schedules we were unable to get to see them before they closed. In one instance (Dunkirk) we were assured by a staffer that the film would certainly be playing into the next week, as it had just arrived. It didn't and we missed it. As rare as quality films arrive in town, missing them is really irritating.
We recently watched the Star Wars release in a frigid, unheated theater that has been inoperable for some weeks. We decided to bear with it as we could not know when the show would be closing its run here. We won't do that again, and will likely continue to avoid the movie house...
Read moreThis is the third time this year I’ve gone to the theatre and it’s been extremely dirty every time. I previously had not complained because I went to afternoon shows and had thought maybe they were short staffed but today I went to the first show of the day and was even the first one into the theatre. I went to the restroom before the movie started and it was dirty. It had not been restocked to start the day, there were empty toilet seat cover boxes in the holders & the toilet I went into had a dried up drop of what appeared to be diarrhea on the outside of the bowl. The floors looked neither swept nor mopped. The theatre itself had some trash in the cup holder and I’m not positive that floor was clean but it was hard to confirm with the lighting in there. There is absolutely NO reason that the theatre should be dirty, especially the bathrooms, for the first...
